One does not simply go to Iceland just once.Eamar said:Of those, I've only been to Iceland, but I'd definitely recommend it. It's by far my favourite place I've visited so far, and I desperately want to go back there soon.
If you're up for some serious hiking, you can see an incredible range of landscapes in just a week or two, from glaciers, to black desert, to lush green valleys, to hot springs. It is hard work though, so be warned! It's also VERY sparsely populated, so if you did go hiking you wouldn't get so much of the culture side of things, though you could always spend some time in Reykjavik as well (go whale watching if you do, it's fantastic there).
The second visit is on my to-do list as well
@ OP, if you go to Iceland this time of the year, you can expect some pretty late sunsets. The sun really takes its sweet time; I remember strolling through the streets of Reykjavik at around 1am with the streetlights just lighting up.
Oh, and when you're in Reykjavik (and not a vegetarian), go to the Þrir Frakkar [http://3frakkar.com/index.php?page=geschichte]. They have delicious food. Oh, and they're not too far from Reykjavik's central church, which kinda looks like a space ship prepping for take-off if you view it from behind.
So yeah, you should definitely check out Reykjavik. And Þingvellir. And if you're into glaciers, the Eyjafjallajökull (remember that little bugger?)
Sadly, I can't tell you more, as when I was there, we slept in Reykjavik every night and took day trips to several location in the south-western part of Iceland.
Edit: I almost forgot about the EVE Online player's monument! Be sure to visit that too
