according to metal hammer

Trent Reznor has been speaking to Joystiq about potentially releasing self-funding videogames for Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network. When asked about the possibility, Reznor coyly said: ?We?re working on some things that will start to come into fruition post Nine Inch Nails and post our tour. That?s one of the reasons I?m stopping the tour, because there are all these other things that I?ve been wanting to do that are outside playing shows.?

?While I enjoy doing Nine Inch Nails and touring, I?ve done it enough where there are a lot of other things I?d like to get into. One of those things ? well, I?m probably saying too much, because if it doesn?t happen then I?ll have to answer questions about it for the next five years. Let?s just say that one of the things that?s highest priority for me and Rob (Sheridan, NIN Creative Director) is the development of some entertainment-based video game?type stuff.?

A Year Zero themed video game would be immense.

I was gutted to hear NIN were disbanding come end of the year, but after 20 years, the guy needs a break.

And for those who don't know what Year Zero is about... its more than just an album, its a conspiracy theory.

No of course not, were going to get "Trent Reznors; Getting Up, Contents Under Pressure". Where you play a rock fan going around a full hustling city painting it completely black.

And the above was totally made up;
And there was much rejoicing!

I would equate Reznor more to DJ Hero than Guitar Hero....

Yea the whole year zero thing is kinda lame. Decent songs on the album but lyrics (and writing) have never really been Trent's strong suit. I have been a fan of his since Pretty Hate Machine and he exemplifies the fact that being a good musician doesn't make you good at other creative outlets. How many musicians have tried their hand at acting and been absolutely horrible?

I've been listening to NIN since Downward Spiral, not as long as you my friend, but nice to see some older NIN fans.

I really enjoyed Year Zero. I followed the ARG very closely, and when I got the album, I liked the fact that each of the songs can be coupled with some of the story lines from the supposed future that Trent envisioned. [I.E The Warning - The Presence warning the human race]

I wasn't a massive fan of With Teeth. I believe it was his worst piece of work. Since then his albums have been fairly good, but The Slip had a good beginning but kinda faded to nothing after Lights in the Sky.

I am surprised to hear Trent wanting to try his hand at other things, but I guess he is an artist. Maybe he just wants a break from the music, but still wants to create new things?

Either way it'll be interesting to see how it pans out, he might actually surprise us.

Besides, I don't think Trent will try acting ;)

I think some sort of old school adventure game, point and click style or something like Fahrenheit that was based around putting cryptic clues together with a Year Zero-esque story to it would be very cool.
