It sounds like you guys enjoyed it quite a lot, but I found Jade Empire to be very underwhelming. I found the story serviceable although they telegraphed their typical "Bioware TWISSST!" wayyy too far in advance. I also thought the combat was very button mashy and boring. To me, it was a couple steps away from being great if they changed a couple of things, but alas....

Thought the setting was fantastic so I wouldn't mind another story taking place it.

It's a great game. Too bad it took me forever to get it to work on my PC.

Love the game, BUT...

I hate that the controls on PC suck so much that I end up having to break out my XBox to enjoy the game.
Really? I actually had no difficulties with them when I first played the game, though I rarely played anything using gamepads. What part of the overall controlscheme was least serviceable for you, if I may ask?

If you set the predictable story, awful button mashing combat, and infuriating shmup sequences aside it is an OK game. Not great, but I don't hate it.

I didn't like how you couldn't take the form of a fox demon in combat, or I would have been in fox demon form exclusively.

I think you can, or at the very least I know there was a mod that allowed you to for sure.

Jade Empire was an utterly wonderful game, and I'd love to see a modern remake of it. :p Well, that, or KotOR 1.

*Looks at thread title*

Old? OLD?! The game was released in 2005! That is NOT old!

Dammit, now I feel old...

I remember renting the game once. It seemed like a fun game, but for whatever reason I never got around to actually buying it.

I notice Steam's selling the game for $15. Is it worth the purchase?

Heh fair enough I could have made a thread called, Did anyone else play Haunted House on the Atari which would make me feel incredibly old =P

I would say yes for 15 bucks you couldn't go wrong, but thats really subjective to what you like compared to what I like as they probably aren't the same.

(Oh and as a hint I am not old, I just lived in a poor household no Nintendo until much later for us)

I thought the combat system was much more entertaining then KoTOR. KoTOR had an interesting plot and was based around an awesome universe with some fun gameplay. Jade Empire on the other hand was amazing gameplay with an new interesting universe and a plot that could have been made by a 3 year old. So I would prefer a Jade Empire 2, redeeming the universe with a decent plotline, but what I really want is the Gameplay. Mass Effect, KoTOR, and Dragon Age all have fun gameplay but Jade Empire is the gem of the Bioware library when it comes to this. So yes I would prefer a Jade Empire Sequel, but really just give us some more of that awesome gameplay.

I always thought it was one of Bioware's weaker titles actually, although still a solid experience.

One of my complaints was just that you got so many companions but got barely any time to get to know them and the interaction between those characters was fairly minimal. Setting was fantastic, but again just never felt I got the chance to see much of it. Story was well done, if a bit predictable, but still quite well done.

All that said still liked it enough to have played through it twice over the years and I'd love to revisit the setting. Never really clicked with any of the characters, but the setting I enjoyed and would love to see more of. Was refreshing and just felt like it had a ton of potential that was never really met.
