So I bought Borderlands for the ps3, after playing for a night I decided I wanted for the 360 instead. So I brought it back and told the guy I bought it for my friends Birthday and he had a 360 not a ps3, then asked for an exchange. No questions asked he took back the ps3 one and gave me a brand new, sealed, 360 copy. Since I want the game I'm not returning it, but I can easily return it because the new copy is unopened. The receipt shows the exchange and it is says returned because its the wrong version, nothing about being opened.

Not sure if this works for all of them but I thought I would share incase you regret buying a game and want a chance of returning it.

...Er...
Here in Australia, GAME and EB both have a policy that lets you trade back your games for full price if its within a week. It's there policy to ensure that you are satisfied with your purchase. Abused at times, but still good.

So i can't really say that is a trick...

Huh I have returned 2 games to them and gotten different games. All with no hassle. First one was Beast Riders which was horrible. It glitched on me so I took it back and got Dead Space. The other was force Unleashed because of the Star Destroyer that was a complete mess (QTEs that give you the wrong button prompts) and the whole "default text here" fiasco. I don't remember what I got for that. I still have the preorder action figure though (still in unopened original packaging ebcause I am such a geek). It pays being friendly with the staff and being in there all the time.

There's something better, actually. If you turn in old crappy games and buy a used game with the credit, then beat the game in less than a week, you can return it for full credit and repeat the process, thus playing any games you want for free. Since games keep becoming easier and shorter, this becomes an easier process.

Maybe I'm just behind the times, but I've been shafted a few times trying to return a new game. I've tried it and was told if it's open they can't take it.

I've gotta say, if I were the clerk, I'd have probably said, "So you bought it for your friend's birthday and opened it?" I'm not really seeing how the excuse holds up under scrutiny. That said, I'm certainly glad you were able to work it out in this case.

Wanted to trade in Madden 10 for NBA2k10, they offer $24 for it so they can sell it for $52 used, I say no thank you. No one should shop at gamestop, you can find better deals online and elsewhere.

Yay! :D

Sounds like how I managed to actually MAKE money off of buying, returning, and reselling the pair of Gears of War games...all in Gamestop, with no Ebay involved.

i agree.

You lied and now showing off :S

I consider myself a pretty honest person, but if I'm spending $60 dollars I want to be happy with the purchase, and not trade in the game for 1/3 of it's value. Sure it is lying, but they can still resell the game at full price, no one's getting cheated. I'm not going to defend it, or argue if it is moral or not(that up to you), but I'm not losing sleep over getting the product I want.
