Fallout: New Vegas is kinda buggy. Sometimes enemies get stuck in the ground, and the game crashes somewhat frequently.

Besides that, I freaking love the game.

It's a punishment for dying. In Borderlands there's really never anything that makes you afraid of dying, so it's an incentive to the player to stay alive.

I hated the brown-and-doom color scheme of Fallout: New Vegas. Sure, it was a brown-and-Doom game but they could have at least added some color.
I just finished Honest Hearts, and if it proves anything, it's not all brown and grey. There's also orange.

I love New Vegas too, but really, understatement of the century. I've died at least 20-30 times in about two or three days from my character freezing in V.A.T.S.

Uncharted. I can't play it. I just wanted a dang good adventure game and it felt too much like a third person shooter. There were just too many enemies around. A fight every few seconds. It just felt too ridiculous to me.

Lost Odyssey. I was enjoying it greatly up until the two kids came in. They are just so damn annoying.

Saint's Row 3. Not enough activities (three instances of each, with 10 levels of each), and not enough activity variety. I don't normally like the upgrade and reward system in the SR games, but playing on hard balances things out. The story never seems long enough in the SR games. They did cut out a lot, mainly the activities, but there was some story things too.

That said I have a crush on Viola--Yes I know who voices her, and I have done some of my own research on some of her other work.

Rise of Nations. Still one of my favourite games and whatnot but my gripe is as follows.

No infantry wielding swords.

Bar the Germans and the Romans who both got unique heavy infantry that use swords, every other nation follows the same progression (Allowing for some unique spear infantry)

Spearman
Hoplites
Pikemen
Elite Pikemen
Fusiliers
Anti-Tank Rifles
Rocket Launchers
... I cannot remember the thing from the Info Age. God, I cannot believe that I just listed all the heavy infantry in that game. Unless I missed something. *thinks* Nope, just the thing from the info age.

I mean, sure, it is more accurate, spears being far more common than swords for levy infantry and it does work well with regards to the game but... Still. Would it have been so hard to create a third infantry choice?

Well, Yes, because the game was perfectly balanced (Up until the industrial age) and used rock paper scissors (Light > Archers. Archers > Spears. Spears > Light.) to keep it balanced, meaning the addition of a fourth Unit class within the infantry (Again, up until the industrial age) would have broken the balance and been a ***** to balance and was totally superflluous

BUT STILL. I MISS MY SWORDS.

Also, that game REALLY needs a sequel. A real sequel. Not the dissapointing as fuck Rise of Legends. Which wont happen cause the guy who made it now works for Zynga and I think Big Huge Games is dead.

What was I saying?

Sorry, I went off topic.

A handful of the missions in RDR dragged on for a bit, or were not very cool.
The combat in the console Kingdom Hearts titles is not complex, though it's not to the detriment of the game.
Cutscenes in Yakuza and MGS tend to drag on.
G-level quests in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite were really difficult for solo players. Not unbeatable, but it was close.
Lag in Dark Souls PvP, 'nuff said.

I've been playing Crusader Kings 2 recently and the lack of Naval battles is immensely irritating.

Also in the X-Com Enemy Unknown demo (and presumably full game), all your soldiers speak with an American accent, despite being from many different countries.

Vindictus

boat 5 and 5.5 are terrible (that's Harrowforst Depths and Hither Forest for anyone that hasn't been playing long as i have).

while this has actually been, partly addressed, some of the mat requirements for gear are fucking insane, like the Everlasting [http://vindictusdb.com/set?i=guardian_fiona_set] set, it takes the ultra rare drops from four bosses, and you need at least two per piece.

this is annoying cause i want it T-T

They already did that in another way though: through tearing up your wallet. Have some $40,000 saved up? Well, say goodbye to about 10% of that if you die. In that sense, it punishes you for not being good enough when you need ammo or that new item of the day. The respawn animation just gets grating real fast: the combat is generally fast-paced and when you're pulled from that to watch a 10-second cutscene that you've seen a billion times, that's not going to make you want to stop dying, it'll make you want to stop playing.

Halo did this in its multiplayer: the dreaded 3-second timer. Some people are gifted with multiplayer games. I was not. Through hundreds of deaths I was still pretty incompetent. I did not get better through being punished, I stopped playing. Why? If I wanted to have my ass kicked and taunted I'd just walk by one of my old bullies and let them do the rest. Most of us don't play games to be infuriated, but that's exactly what an unskippable 10-second cutscene you've seen tons of times is.

Dark Souls, no pause button, OK I get that inventory management while in the middle of a battle is silly and it keeps with the games punishing nature. Still just occasionally I need to have a piss or answer the phone and I'd like some kind of guarantee that when I return some monstrosity isn't using my skull as an ashtray.

I rather enjoyed both War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron but I have the same nitpick for both games. The transform command is bound to the movement controls which results in a lot of unintentional transformations...usually in the middle of a firefight.

Yes I know that you can change the command layout and I eventually did. My point remains however that a player shouldn't need to modify the controls to work around poor design choices.

Okay, let's look at my top 11 games! This is very important!

1. Silent Hill 2 - right off the bat, I have to admit that I consider just about all the flaws in this game to actually be enhancements. The bad combat and camera angles increased my feelings of tension, anxiety, and weakness, and the weird-looking faces and strange voice acting enhanced the feeling of unsettling...unrealness. Nothing excuses those weird-ass puzzles though.

2. Riven - this game was stupidly hard, and I couldn't even solve it without turning to the internet for help occasionally. And usually it was for dumb reasons, like me not noticing something clickable over in the corner. That was lame. The "interactive slideshow with movies" presentation hasn't aged very well, and the game itself has little replay value unless you just want to take a trip down memory lane.

3. Journey - ...I'm drawing a blank here, I really am. I guess it's a little hard to notice the level select area, so that's one.

4. Guild Wars 2 - it's not very immersive and it feels very much like a game, which I originally thought would be a bad thing, but fortunately the game it feels like is a really fun one. While the lore is awesome, the writing and voice acting are a little bland. The music is also just okay (never been a huge Jeremy Soule fan). And while female charr, asura, and sylvari are great, female humans and norn look really Barbie-ish. (The game took several steps forward in terms of female representation, and also several steps sideways. It's good enough.) Also, Nolan North.

5. Ico - the combat, especially with that stupid plank, can get really frustrating and tiresome. Also Yorda's AI can be a pain.

6. Final Fantasy XI - the grind! The slow combat! How drawn-out and painful every single aspect of the game is! It was the product of an older generation of MMOs, so we can probably excuse it for all that. But it makes it very hard for a new player to pick it up and enjoy it nowadays.

7. Botanicula - not many complaints, other than that it would have been cool if all five characters had used their unique abilities to work together to solve puzzles. Kind of a missed opportunity.

8. Machinarium - ...nope, nothing here either. It's the perfect puzzle-adventure.

9. Aquaria - I didn't like how the camera would slowly zoom in if you stayed in one place for too long, like if you were firing at enemies from range. Also, I loved cooking, but I hated the discovery process. If you tried to combine ingredients that didn't go together, they'd result in a nearly-useless item. You could lose really rare ingredients that way. Annoying. I also had to resort to looking up the gimmicky boss fights online just because I hated the overly-long death animation and didn't want to put up with it any more than necessary.

10. Dragon Age: Origins - it was brown and hideous, and the combat was boring. The story and sidequests were also boring in a few places.

11. Uru - an extremely flawed game that I still found charming for some reason. Its flaws probably even outweigh its strengths. The series' transition to a third person perspective was clumsy, character models and animations are hideous, character creation is weak, jumping is annoying and overemphasized, the physics on certain objects is obnoxious, graphics are dated, and (going into Uru Live) multiplayer is not only unnecessary but very poorly implemented for uncountable reasons. It also didn't get anywhere near the development time or expansion it should have had. And yet I enjoy it anyway...Don't even ask me why.

Sim City 3000 Unlimited
Dear fiscal watchdogs commitee lady. No im not canceling the Youth Sports Program that funds uniforms and orginizes teams to keep kids off our streets just to save 145 simolans of our 55 thousand in expenses. While your here no im not canceling the ordinance to authorize crossing gaurds and no im not canceling our garbage deal with our neighbors to the south. If you want kids to run around unattended in heavy traffic after school while the streets are filled with trash then pitch that as your campaign for mayoral elections in hell. Im sure they'd love to have you.

Saints row 2:
When i started the game i played as a british sounding chinese old dude. I was pleasently surprised that all my "homies" were women. I loved rolling with a group of girls in G strings, high heels and fishnets while we shoot up stuff. Half way into the game, not a woman to be found. They were all men...where did the girls go!? I tried changing the settings back to "pimps and ho's" like i did when i started playing but only pimps spawned...give me my girls back!

New pokemon games:
Pokemon crystal had real animations when an enemy pokemon or wild pokemon appeared. Why is it all you new pokemon games just stretch out the creature so it only LOOKS like it moved when all yoru doing is manipulating the image? Come on! Animate!

Spore:
Im the omnipotent space captain. Please stop calling me to deal with your petty ecosystem problems, I dont care! I can see your tanks being used to transport spice. Go use them to solve your problems. And stop asking for help on pirate raids. Pirates come and you cant handle them. But oh no if i so much as sneeze in the direction of your cities your defenses kick up to overdrive for one craft >.>

All Need For Speed games past Hot Pursuit2:
OMG could you get GOOD music for a change!?

Sims 3:
Would it kill you to have some kind of easy mode where my needs degrade at a slower pace so i can actually idk take time to go explore things and have fun? Stop with the expansion packs already!

Valkyria chronicles:
Your an old game....port to pc already.

Katawa Shoujo
You feature miki but no suzu? Her name is Suzu Suzuki! Thats gold! This counts as a game right? Give that girl a cameo come on now.

Rome Total War:
"All rome will be amazed at such a victory. (voice breaking) ThE DaYY iS OuRs!" Yeah thanx. Could I get an aide de camp who has hit puberty mabey? Mabey thats cruel let me try again. Thats great son go get some rest, you should probably fit a little more training before u do.

Im sure there is more but thats all i got :/

Off topic : Im gonna have to agree with Mr.F. Rise of Nations is an amazing game and needs another sequal. Hell it doesnt have to have shiny 3d graphics. I swear go youtube "Rise of Nations gameplay" and you will see the game still holds up graphically and gameplay wise as far as historical RTS is concerned

The music in Marvel vs Capcom 3 annoys the hell out of me and in Blazblue the way Arakune speaks is beyond irritating they just take out random letters I get he is sort of a gooey mess and cant form his words properly but it makes reading his story extremely irritating.

It'd be nice if you had the option, just literally a 'freeze the game' button for such occurrences, maybe even a system in which it costs souls to pause, if not pausing is really that important to the game.

Then again, it's fun to swap stories of how many souls you lost because you had to answer the phone.

Mass Effect ammo system. When the gun overheats, you eject the heat sink so you can continue firing, so that's how they limit ammo. BUT! Why is it when I don't fire, the heat sink doesn't cool down?! Didn't anyone think of that?
The excuse I keep hearing is that it makes gameplay faster and more intense or some shit like that.

Bullshit if you ask me. I think there should atleast be the ability to use either guns with thermal clips or the older ME1 weapons, and with ME3 and the Prothean Beam Rifle, you have the basica ground work for it to return. I WANT MY DAMN INFINIT AMMO AR BACK!!!

Anyways, as much as im loving Borderlands 2, Im kinda pissed there is no way to go back and listen to audio logs like in the previous game. Also sad they didnt make the characters have more "Presence" in the game. Nobody ever mentions the fact my character is a Siren, and if you played the game and got to a certian point, you know a particular importance of Sirens, so it seems weird that they completely ignore that little fact[footnote]Also, while I think the audiologs you can find about your characters is a nice touch, still not the same.[/footnote].
I didn't even know the audio logs I found about the Siren were about the playable character until I made my own and saw her default name.

And stickin with the BL2 theme we need a damn grenade indicator.
