trolling can be done to a group off people and is meant as harmless fun.
cyberbullying is done to one person and is meant harmful.
both can be stopped by turning the computer off so you spare the internet allot of E-drama.

cyberbullying is being just an asshole to somebody in a hostile manner.

Trolling is being somewhat of an asshole but is all in good fun in the end, and you'll probably laugh about whatever they did later.

So the question here is fairly straightforward: Is there a fundamental difference between someone trolling and someone cyberbullying?

To me, I can't really see a difference between the two: both involve someone using the Internet to deliberately antagonize someone else, usually for the benefit of the antagonizer. If there is a difference, could someone explain to me what that is?
I think the main difference is the context. Trolling is done anonymously to random strangers the troll doesn't know. Cyberbullying is done to a targeted individual chosen by the bully, and they know who is doing it. In action they are essentially the same thing--it all depends on the context. Sort of like the difference between a fiddle and a violin.

to me trollling is to get reation from randoms for the lols and cyber bullying is targetting a specific victim to bully them for the lols.

No. Trolling doesn't have to be mean spirited. Some times it's just a joke.

It's just nowadays mostly used by retards to cover their ass.

For instance, starting a thread in a help forum for advice on how to cope because you're aunt and uncle died and now you have to move in with your weird uncle Ben is trolling. Some people will recognize the Star Wars reference. Others will not and give completely serious answers.

trolling is funny.

pretty simple really.
No it isn't. It's obnoxious and annoying.

OT: For all intents and purposes, no there really isn't much difference.
Your implying that being obnoxious and annoying on purpose isn't funny? :p
Yes that's exactly what I'm implying.
>Implying that the world hasn't benefitted from trolling at least once.

But really, like it's been said. Trolling is pissing someone off over something unimportant and watching the reaction, and cyberbulling is being a pussy and bullying someone using electronics.
Name one.

Also, it's all the same to me, esp. when you're on the receiving end.
The Anon's pissing off Scientology and fucking around with Tom Green's show. Those were examples of trolling, maybe a very crude form of trolling, but trolling nonetheless. And it's only really cyberbullying you if they start to just be petty. i.e. name calling, threats, etc. There's a difference between when someone's being a retard and trying to cover it as trolling, and then there's what this guy [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Noxshadow] does on occasion.
I fail to see how the world benefited from either of your examples.

It's still all just semantics. In either case you're (and by "you", I mean anyone who engages in that kinda shit, either one. Not you personally.) still a douche and still deserve a 2X4 to the nuts. I'd say upside the head, but if you're engaging in that kinda shit, there's probably nothing of value up there anyway (If you're a female, I guess we'd have to settle for upside the head).
Shit, I took a while to respond, but let me continue.

Trolling, I guess would be targeting someone to annoy them, I.E. Preventing them from capturing the flag, trapping them in a door.

Like so. Things like that are trolling, just harmless fun like that.

Cyberbulling is bullying on a cyberlevel, this is pretty much with the intent to cause misery and all that.

There's a difference between you telling as many puns as you can to your pun hating friend and telling him that he's a failure of a human being for hating puns and that he should kill himself because of it. You catch my drift?

I'd say trolling is for the most part intented to be harmless baiting. Just to watch people over react to stupid little things.
Whereas cyperbullying is a focused, and malicious act of superiority.

If trolls weren't apart of the internet, it would be far less irritating.

If Cyperbullying wasn't apart of the internet, the world would be a better place.

Could someone please explain cyberbullying to me? I hear the term thrown around all the time in my school in books and by teachers, but I don't understand. Just... block and ignore the person? I mean if someone's threatening to punch you on a text message, that's both recorded evidence that he/she did it and it's just normal bullying through a different medium, the main threat actually being the physical abuse. If you're talking about harassing people on facebook or whatnots, there's not much of a problem.

To the OP, trolling is more for fun, I'd say. Sometimes it can come out as hilarious. Most of the time, though...

Also, to triple post, this is what I'd call trolling.
