That thread was the most hilariously sad thing I've seen here. And it is the thread I will direct people to if they ever claim this place is the "last bastion of intelligence on the internet" ever again. I didn't think a community could troll itself. So if satirists are trolls, then yes, trolls do add something. To those people who know the difference. Despite what you may have heard, sarcasm does work on the Internet---it just works based on context, reputation of the poster, and occasionally brutally obvious cues in the work itself. (yes, I'm still mad about that locked thread.)
More on this later, after I've had a few hours to sit in college classes and remember that offline, people---even the same people who are idiots online---tend to be smarter.
