I recently upgraded from the regular 3DS to the 3DS XL, and was going to download some of the games I had purchased from the eShop on my previous system. But they aren't listed as purchased after I logged into my Club Nintendo account, so that must not be it. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be the issue?

Thanks!!

I think you have to contact Nintendo first about a new system so they can transfer your account info onto your new system. After that, they will give you the money necessary (or I think you can just redownload for free) all of your stuff.

It also seems that you didn't do a NNID so it's probably extra steps.

Does the system transfer thing not work from 3ds to 3ds? I thought that was how you were supposed to do it, not the way you are now?

Your supposed to notify Nintendo first so they can set up your old account onto your new system. Since OP didn't state whether or not he had a NNID that could be the reason why he/she is having issues.

Actually, I think you need to have a Wii U to have the Nintendo Network ID work on your 3DS, which is actually something I don't like. I looked everywhere on the 3DS and couldn't find anything, and it wasn't until I did it on the Wii U that I was able to do it.

Not quite since I don't owned an WII U and yet I got an Network ID. As to how I acquire it, I think it was from the lastest update when it is require to have one when you entered the eshop. In saying so I think the Network ID is the same as the Club Nintendo login details but I'm not too sure (I set one up before that update).

Did you update recently? Because the moment I updated to all that Miiverse stuff on the 3DS I had to have a NNID account on my 3DS. Also I had to register my club Nintendo account as well.

Yes, to transfer all of your stuff from system to system you use the system transfer process. You do NOT have to notify Nintendo at all.
See, that's what I thought. I remember doing that when I upgraded to my XL... But I don't buy eShop stuff so I wasn't sure.

No it's not the same thing. Having multiple accounts is a seriously confusing move on Nintendo's part. The Club Nintendo account can be linked to the NNID but they're different accounts and may have different log on details if you so choose. NNID is new on the 3DS, but has been around on the WiiU since it was launched. If you have a WiiU and a 3DS you can use the same NNID on both however a NNID can only be associate with max one 3DS. A club Nintendo account can be associated with multiple consoles of the same type as far as I'm aware.

To associate an NNID with a different 3DS then you'll need to do a system transfer, same as before the NNID was introduced to the 3DS. There's official instructions on how to do this on the Nintendo website. Note that transferring the NNID will mean that you would no longer be able to access download content on the previous 3DS.

Would you know if you just do the same thing in terms of transferring even if you've bought items from the eShop?

I have only a few cheap games so it wouldn't be a total loss if I had to get them again, annoying as hell but that's all. I think I might just call their hotline number, they actually give you a person to talk to, not a damn machine which is freaking awesome.
