basically, in WW1 there was a battlefield with lots of Canadian soldiers whose bodies were never recovered. there's a moose statue overlooking the battlefield and memorial with all the names on it (it's fucking massive and its a pretty average text size). the French gave the land to Canada at Versaille as the field was affectively a graveyard for Canadian soldiers. they did it for the germans and brits too. i went there on a school history trip.
