Well I finally watched Avatar: the Last Airbender-series after hearing my friend praise it. I thought one boring day to just browse for a few episodes to see what is was all about, just for fun. I mean, it came out some years ago and I missed it then and anyway the series was for a much younger audience...or so I thought!

After a few marathons through the entire series, I can honestly say it is the best animated cartoon series I have ever seen and I'm absolutely love it. And I have watched many (mostly anime, but still). Despite the series target demographic being what it is, the creators of the series put so much effort and care into making everything just work, from the well built characters to changing between serious scenes and battles to comedy seamlessly. I now have a new standard to measure every new series I watch.

Now I'm waiting very patiently for the upcoming sequel.

I think everybody should see this series (not the movie), if they already haven't, it's that good.

And I know I'm not alone with this.

H2O: Just add water.[footnote]Best Australian show about 3 teenaged mermaid girls with magic powers ever[/footnote] Surprisingly well written for a kid's show. And dark, when they use their magic powers to harm people, in a serious and not played for laughs way.

Also, Blade Kitten. Which is targeted more at my demographic.
weird thing is that I have seen that show. and thought it was awesome as well!

OT: Doctor who. watched it as a one off when I was sixteen when the CBC use to play them and GOD DAMN! WOOSH!
This was also the point in my life when I thought being nerdy and a chick was not cool. yes I was stupid

Borderlands

I saw the commercials and didn't really care about it at all until a friend borrowed a copy of the game from a roommate and brought it over. I was crazy addicted to that game for months and do not regret a single moment of it.
I know this has nothing to do with your comment but you avatar is just awesome!

My love for MLP started off as checking out what the big deal was. I guess you could consider that "on a whim."
I found MLP by accident before I even knew it was hitting off big online. I already had Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie toys before I even saw the show :/

<- Pony Modder but those two I never touched.

Dr. Who and Homestuck, both took everything I knew, destroyed it completely, and replaced it with themselves.

Firefly, as others have said, really took me by surprise. I started watching it and I was done all of it and Serenity within a day or two. Really is a shame about the cancellation.

I bought Fable: TLC and KotOR 2 together for, what was it, £15? It must have been, that's the deal GAME has on PC games: 3 for £10 range and 2 for £15 range. Anyway, I bought them both a few years ago, loved 'em. Fable moreso, admittedly. I bought Fable on the off chance that my friend's enthusiastic recommendation was accurate, and KotOR on the basis that it would be as good as the first. It wasn't, but still worth it anyway. And Fable was - and is - fantastic.

I've heard an awful lot about Firefly, never seen it, or even heard of it until I joined these forums.
Maybe its time to go and investigate it a bit more.

I picked up The xx's album when just browsing because the album just...I dunno...jumped out at me. No idea why. This was before all the hype about it started.

I'm glad I bought it.

My Little Pony had me at Friendship.

But WoW was a huge one for me. I played a trial before Burning Crusade came out. WoW had me at Dwarf Hunter. But I've quit it. A good 4 years or so of gaming.

I got a Starman trade paperback from the library because I thought that maybe it would be worth reading. Now I consider Starman to be the best ongoing superhero series ever.
