Do what we do in the Army: Dip XD.

I myself don't do it, but long gone are the days where one could smoke in formation, so in lieu of ruining their lungs with cancer, soldiers opt to get their nicotine fix on a variety of flavored mushy tobacco grounds. Except for having to carry a bottle to spit in around or otherwise dirtying up the enviornment (a concern you shouldn't have unless your military XP), it would probably be to your advantage.

And I heard peach flavor is really good. Again, despite how I sound, I sincerely think you should consider it, at least until you get used to not having to smoke, and then from there you can work your way to safer alternatives to either...well, no, you'd probably end up stopping. Yeah, try it.

Are you using nicotine patches/gum/inhalers etc?
They helped my mum cut down, but she didn't use her willpower... silly woman.
Anyway, here's a tip.
paint your cigs with milk and let them dry, when you try smoke them, they'll taste disgusting.
Also, work out how much a year you spend on cigs, then think about all the luxuries you can buy from stopping smoking.
For example, if you save £2,000 a year, you could put that money towards a holiday.
Good luck.

Of the mouth and such. His lungs should be fine until they go out from some other non-insurable cause of this enviornment we call Earth.

I am in the midst of quitting, however it is not going too well. I am just trying to keep myself busy all the time, which stops me from thinking about smoking, since I am a bored smoker. Not working very well because of me being unemployed atm, but if I am constantly doing something it doesn't even cross my mind. Other than that, if will power alone is not doing it for you, try out an e-cig, or even a patch or gum. They don't work for me, because it is the feeling of smoking that I crave, not the nicotine per se. But good luck to you sir, hopefully you can cut down, and stay down.

I never smoked much. It worked for me not to smoke in the mornings. Then I moved up to after lunch. I'm currently now not smoking before I get out of work. I am unable to make interesting sentences at the moment. Sorry.

Cinnamon candy helps, and toothpicks are a nice distraction! Good luck!
The winning formula: Put a rubberband around your wrist, snap it against yourself every time you feel like a smoke, thus associating cigarettes with pain. I've used this system to kick sevral bad habits...that I don't do anymore. Or will power, you could give that try, just reach for a 360 controller instead.

Put a rubber band on your wrist. Every time you think of [doing] smoking, pull it a little and snap it back to give a tiny pinch. Every time you actualy do smoke, you have to switch it to the other wrist for every inhale.
Or vice versa.

Those new electronic ciggarettes might help. I'm planning on getting one myself. No more stupid rules telling me where i can smoke, and no girlfriend telling me that i taste like an ashtray

go on holiday to france or somewhere for a week
while you're there, give all your spending money to your wife
then tell her not to buy any fags for you

if you dont have any to smoke and no good way of getting them, you cant smoke and youll naturally give up

Unfortunately as an American I wouldn't be able to stop laughing at fags (it's still funny to me, I can't help it)

Yea im sure that will work for everyone on Earth, cause ya know its not like nicotine is the most addictive substance on the planet or anything....(obvious sarcasm)

My friend, honestly if you gonna cut back why not just quit?
But you may like smoking so if you do you could use that electric cigarette that works quite well.

And if you want to quit believe it or not hypnosis has a very high sucess rate with people quitting for good. But only do it if your committed because it usually(not always) requires at least 4 sessions...

I find i smoke way less when i'm doing something. Like fixing a car or cutting the grass or something. Takes your mind off the fags.

Also chewing gum is pretty helpful even if its not the nicorette stuff, just chewing anything will help. When i was giving up my nails were non-existent and i practically ate all my matches.

Since then i have restarted and smoke again.. but less...

As a former smoker I will say 1. Good luck giving up and 2. It will be hard work. Try to take it slowly and cut down gradually. Thats How I did it. I was smoking 15 a day, then i took it down to 10 a day after a couple of months, then 5 a day and take it down from there. It wont be easy though. When i was giving up i had bought a 10 pack of Malbro red which my brother snapped on half.I stuck them back together with post it notes

The only way I was able to quit was with the help of Wellbutrin (a.k.a. Bupropion).

Gives you bad insomnia, but it's a small price to pay for abolishing cravings completely.

I couldn't believe it, after years of trying to quit cold turkey, or cutting down, etc... this medication finally did it.

It doesn't work for everyone, but for those who it does work on, it gets rid of cravings entirely... not only did I NOT have any cravings, the thought of smoking actually disgusted me.

I've now been off cigarettes for a year, and it's as if I never smoked at all. I don't ever get cravings, and I stopped taking the medication after 2 months. And your doctor will prescribe it to you if you want it for quitting smoking.

That's my suggestion, at least for quitting entirely... if you're not up for that, it may be enough to at least stem the cravings enough for you to cut down to 4 cigs a day or something. Worth talking to your doctor about though.
