so i know a bit about comics but i whant to go full nerd and i am looking for things to catch up i like dc so try to keep it to them
Well since DC just relaunched all their major franchises recently with the "New 52" initiative now is a good time to "go full nerd". It seems to be widely successful as now marvel plans to do the same. I'd just do a quick search for what franchises got the reboot, and grab the first issues.RESURRECTION21 said:so i know a bit about comics but i whant to go full nerd and i am looking for things to catch up i like dc so try to keep it to them
i was thinking about the sandman a lookEclpsedragon said:If you haven't read "The Sandman" I recommend you do, that's probably the best starting point for anyone looking to get into comics.
You can get all the volumes in trade paperback and the continuity doesn't go on forever to the point which it gets confusing.
i like any of the genres if the book itself is good and the two you said are on my listsaint of m said:Any Specific genres you enjoy? You can start there or ask if there is something that falls into that demographic.
Seriously, A History of Violence and The Road to Perdition were both adapted from Graphic Novels, I think you can find something you like.
thats true but i whant to read some of the older stuff first but i am going to pick up some of the new 52 booksPharoah103090 said:Well since DC just relaunched all their major franchises recently with the "New 52" initiative now is a good time to "go full nerd". cool i will look in to them i have the walking dead trades 1-3 soo do they get bad after 4 or just not as good?crazyrabbits said:I would suggest either sticking to graphic novels or digital copies. Trying to collect the various issues of different runs (especially recent ones) can be an exercise in frustration. I collected comics for many years - I have piles of them here in my basement.
Your best bet is to go with some older runs from various companies and see how you like them. My personal recommendations include:
Batman: Year One/Long Halloween/Dark Knight Returns
Spider-Man: Early Amazing Spider-Man (first 100 issues), the comics from 290-300 (Mary Jane and Peter get married, Kraven's death, first Venom)
X-Men: Any Uncanny X-Men from the "relaunch" in the 70's all the way to 300 (notably, the Dark Phoenix Saga), Astonishing X-Men, New X-Men (Morrison)
Green Lantern: Emerald Twilight/Sinestro Corps War
Sin City
The Walking Dead (first four trades)
The Ultimates 1/2
Brian Michael Bendis' run on Daredevil
