Trying to Remember (A movie)

Hello Fellow escapists, I having trouble remembering a movie I saw a long time ago. The main Character was an airplane pilot, and in one scene he was fighting giant robots. Also There was a scene where all the characters were in a huge room with a rocket ship full of animals. A note said the project was called The Day After tomorrow I believe. I may be wrong on some of the details, but thats all I can remember. It was based between 1910-1940

I'm not absolutely sure, but it may be Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

I haven't seen the movie, so I can't be positive.
