Dude...people are assholes and besides...weren't the NUKES payback?
No the first air raids on Tokyo were payback.
Yeah, the Tokyo air raids were pretty bad. An entire residential district was levelled and the death toll was estimated at over 100,000. I think that was a lot worse then pearl harbour, and that's not even counting the two nukes.
As it turns out, war sucks balls.

Some people on 4chan thought this was funny... I certainly don't.
People are rather heartless.

If this has already been brought up, do forgive but this has been brought to my attention:

*Link removed* (by the OP) People are sending messages to Facebook accounts apparently and that's also out of line.

Apparently there is a fair amount of Americans claiming that the Tsunami currently ravaging Japan can be seen as payback for an attack in WW2.

"getting a little more payback for peal harbour. they thought we forgot about that BS, didn't they?"

"Remember pearl harbour? Go tsunami go!"

Only two brief examples of a torrent of idiotic comments that seriously make one wonder where people get this crap from.

What are your thoughts, Escapists?
I can see that as a joke. It apparantly has spiraled into full blown assholism now.

The former is growing in number and the latter is growing, I'm sure the latter will surpass the former before long. Either get used to it or leave. I'm contemplating leaving. Yourself?
Eh, this thread is destroyed so I'll just repost here. I'm relatively new to the Escapist so I'll stick around a bit to get a better feel for the direction this site is headed in.

Besides, I've found that I tend to abandon forums that are more special-interest oriented or diesmbodied, but I tend to return to those whose sites cater to my interests on a more general level. So far the Escapist is as good as I've found.

Even if it devolves into the mindless flaming and nonsense threads that plagues many other forums, even if it grows devoid of all intelligent disscussion and polite debate... the Escapist still has some damn good shows.

If you were to leave, would it be away from gaming forums in general or what? As I've heard the Escapist heralded as the last bastion of us internet folk, I'm curious to know what alternatives are out there.
Seeing as how this is the only gaming forum I have ever gone to, yes.

The Escapist used to be the last bastion of the internet until about a year ago. Now, it is just another gaming website, only with better shows.

Ugh, if anything could be seen as payback for Pearl Harbor, it would be the whole "firebombing of major cities followed by two nuclear strikes" thing, but even then referring to it as "payback" would just be grossly and insultingly simplifying the matter.

Hilarious. Not that I care about what's happening in Japan. To be honest I've been playing so much Dragon Age 2 that I didn't even find out about it until late Yesterday when I finished my first play through and left my cave.

Man, some people are just pathetic. How is a natural disaster "Payback" for Pearl Harbour? I thought that's what the fighting and the 2 Nukes dropped in WWII was for.

Not surprised at how stupid people can get over the internet. Also, i like how you removed the FB links cause people messaging them is out of line.

i've lost all faith in Americans (not that I had much to begin with). I'm not going to mention the nukes in WWII cause everyone else did. Fuck you if you even thought that!

PS Thanks for making this thread, I kinda needed to blow off some steam after playing super meat boy

You might be a redneck if....

...you blame a society we are at peace with for something that happened 70 years ago-which the current leaders have no control over- and think that a natural disaster is "payback".
This. And I'm pretty sure that the atomic bombing of one of their moderately populated cities, wreaking sorrow and devestation is more than enough supposed "pay-back".

People these days, I tell you.

Oh, yes. A mostly unpredictable force of nature is nature's revenge for something we already paid them back for. People shouldn't be even remotely glad about this.
