Shadowrun.

And I've discussed this a bit with a friend who is moderately high up at a company that has done a couple high-profile MMOs. My version would be heavily rep-based, keeping a lot of the PnP systems. You want to run jobs downtown? Only if they know your work - which requires rep. Want to do work in another part of the Barrens? Oooh, that might be bad as you're a "shoot on sight" target to the gang in that area... ALpha- and Beta- grade cyberware? Better do good work for the corps. chummer...

Sadly, it'll likely be a cold day in hell before this gets made.

Avatar (the cartoon) and Shadowrun would be my choices. If I was forced to pick, I'd get Shadowrun for the great amount of different characters one could create.

Pokemon. No other game was better designed to be an MMO. I've heard there is one out there but have not seen any info on it. *needs to remember to look*

Ah, I guess I know why now.

Seriously, a Pokemon MMO would work so well...

The different generations as expansions packs, gettting to keep your pokemon through them, etc...

GTA4 needs a zombie mode, it's just hit me :/ Oh, and replace the police with quarantine army associates, and make it an MMO :D
Just a matter of time...

It is a really great idea. If it's done right, I will be a happy camper. In a refugee camp. Surrounded by zombies. Yesssss.

Theres a few online Pokemon MMOs, they're not 3D but at least look like gameboy games :) Dunno how good they are though, havent tried any of them.

I think a Fallout MMO could work. Make it like the NV hardcore, food/water/rest are required to survive.

There is no Pokemon fan who doesn't want this. Nintendo: Can you hear our screams of desire?

Pokemon hands down, it's a fucking lame response but growing up with it... I would play it, I would play it hardcore, I would ruin my life with it (I'm 23 years old lol).

I don't play video games much anymore, but pokemon would drag me back into the whole waste your life semi depressed cycle.

And yes, if world of warcraft didn't exist, and someone in the room said "Warcraft", I would completely agree.
You *ahem* people realize that Pokemon is practically an MMO now what with the Nintendo WiFi connection and all. ¬_¬
Not really, data aint saved onto an external server, it's all saved on your pokemon SD card still (Haven't seen to many MMOs in which some data is atleast saved on the interwebs).

I'm practically a pilot, because I can fly a plane on a flight simulator but it doesn't make me a pilot. You're just being picky, it's just got some online features, but which games don't these days.... When people want a pokemon RPG, they aint talking about first gen type pokemon gameplay... they want a world of warcraft type game with all the original 150 pokemon in which you can duel your pokemon somewhat more human controlled rather than "PRESS HYPER BEAM".
No, you're the ones being picky. Everything you would do in a Pokemon MMO, you can do now. The only thing missing is fancy-ass graphics and whatever.

Would have to be with pokemon roaming around and not random battles the way pokemon should of been on consoles.

OT: I always thought Oblivion or Morrowind would make an interesting MMO.

The Battlefield series... One huge, persistent world where dozens of battles rage and thousands of players fight for map control? Hell yes. Add in unlocks, money, special missions, squads/clans, and you have one of the best games of all time.

I actually thought of this when my friend first told me about the Battlefield series ('Nam at the time) when I was in grade 8 or 9. I thought the game would be like this and was a little disappointed when I found out there are max 64 player servers.

mass effect is the one that i think would be the best to turn into an MMO. think about it for a second.

the world is already created, the magical power has already been established (biotics), the guns are plentiful, and there's already a huge fanbase.

they could easily turn every class shepard can take into a well rounded system.

When I said you were being picky I meant the fact that you said that pokemon is essentially in MMO at the moment which it clearly isn't...

I want a pokemon MMO which brings a new element rather than pressing "Fire Blast", it's running off an overused old school generic RPG element which needs to be updated. I want a pokemon MMO where I can explore the world with my mates, and battle other people while I'm in the middle of training my pokemon. I want to be able to interact with other people without having to join some retarded cable/wifi club in some pokemon centre.

Am I being picky?? I don't think so, I'm kinda getting sick of the same old shit which the pokemon developers bring out year after year. They add "150" new pokemon to each game, do a slight change in the graphics engine, and rake in millions of dollars worth of revenue for very little work.

Little kiddies who buy pokemon games just for the pretty colors will keep the pokemon franchise the way it is... I accept that. However, it doesn't exactly help people like you saying that I am being picky because I think that the way pokemon games are at the moment is shit.

Tf2. The only armour you get is a hat, and weapons. The entire purpose of the game is to get more hats, and prove your gentlemannliness by having more hats than other people. ohwait that's how it is now.

For all intents and purposes, it's like maybe one step removed from an MMO.
Besides that, unless you're 6-13 years old, you & I aren't the target audience.
While I agree that the Pokemon formula could us a little mixing up, rather than essentially releasing the same game with new Pokemon in it, but I don't think an MMO would work. Maybe I'm biased because I hate MMOs, but I just don't think it's what the franchise needs.

Hmmm...now there's a toughie.

Really we're limited to storied, non-linear open-world games...I mean it's not like we could do an MMO on, say, Alan Wake.

In that case I'd go for a Fallout MMO, but everyone's choosing that, so I'll go with both Fable and Jade Empire.
