I like to say, "stop crying like a little *****," just to say "stop crying like a little *****." Though, I was the same way at 18 (look at me acting like a years older). Of course, I'm a weirdo so, hmm I don't know if I have a normal opinion on this.

Meh, turning 18 wasn't that great. A bunch of medical bills that I had got put in my name, I can vote now, I could buy cigs I I wanted to (but I don't so...) i was able to register for college classes on my own... And that's pretty much it. My 18 birthday, despite being the one that's supposed to be a huge birthday, pretty much sucked. All I got was a happy birthday from my immediate family, and that was the end of it. Not a single present (and I'm not really selfish when I comes to gifts. I kinda shrugged it off, but, it was my 18th! You'd think I would get something. And its not like my familys poor or anything).

The worst is the "friends" who try to force you to drink, but somehow freak out if you try and take care of them by giving them a water bottle when they can't stand up.
Yeah, generally that's what the "No Bingo" Stuff was about - give them some water, they spit it out and get annoying, or if they're not quite that drunk tell you their never inviting you to their parties again... until they forget about it the next morning and invite you to the one next week :p

I must say i have had this exact conversation at least from the questioner's end. Here is how i worked mine

(Previous conversation)
'Is it because you're scared of the health risks?'
'It has almost no health risk in moderation, you body even makes a small amount, but no'
'Your scared you'll do something stupid?'
'I am total in control of my actions Alcohol or no Alcohol again no think you'
'You just don't want a hangover tomorrow morning?'
'Do you wanna fuck?'
'what? are you gay?... no I do want to'
'like me and Alcohol'
'... holy crap I finally get it'

works on smokers as well.
Ok, I seriously have to try that sometime. Will be amazingly funny, and even better if it works. Blunt, straight to the point and funny too. Nice work.
You have to interrupt the last question and kind of mock tone of the person questioning you so they notice this is not a serious inquiry, if there is a long pause ask if they want to do something absurd like help you garden or watch the whole Lord of the Rings and original Star War trilogies, the latter is less comical than the wanna fuck option but I have had each work more than once when asking why i will not smoke. It is hilarious, one of those comments people will always remember.

Turning 18 in the States is basically the same in terms of 'becoming a man,' as it is the age of majority. 21 is only significant here because you can then purchase and consume alcohol legally.

I turned 18 in November, and like every other birthday before it, I didn't feel any older. There was no personal difference for me in any respect.

Nothing miraculous for me. Not when I was 18, and not now, in my Twenties.

Being a total "Alcohol and Drugs are friggin' retarded" guy, all I really got to look forward to was using the Sauna at Fitness Center Swimming Pools.....
.....

Why the F*CK HAVEN'T I DONE THAT YET!?!?!?!?!?

I know what I'm doing tomorrow!!! xD

Adult-hood tends to sneak up on you. I find myself wanting to be more financially independent and thinking more about my career path. Emotion wise you'll probably go up and down alot - 'probably' cause it differs. Personality stabilizes around 25.

My 21st was spent in the Army so not much really went on.

When I turned 21 I went downtown to get a bowl of ramen and ended up going to the museum, no urge to drink something that tastes like piss.

Edit: I don't really understand why someone would want to get so drunk that they can't even remember what happened, how do you know you had fun? It's rather sad when someone does something that moronic simply because it's expected of them.

Well for me personally, it was kind of a big deal, though not because of drinking or parties or anything like that, it was mostly that when I turned 18 in 3 months I went from being 1.63 m [small](4.46 ft)[/small] tall to 1.90 m [small](6.23 ft)[/small], as you can tell that isn't exactly what I'd call a slight change, it was pretty confusing and I kept hitting my head with low surfaces, not to mention everybody treated me differently since I didn't look like a 10 year old anymore, it was weird, but now that I think about it was kind of funny too, since when I turned 18 my mother did ask me how did it feel to be an adult, and I answered something like Nothing, it's not like I suddenly became tall, oh irony.

My friends fed me shots until I couldn't stand up and we went from there. I'm missing the vast majority of that weekend from being blackout drunk. From what little I remember past the first few hours, it was awesome.

I was mostly just happy to be able to buy 18-rated DVDs (I love horror movies). Yeah, it was exciting to go to bars and clubs but it gets kinda old. Mostly I just like to watch a movie and have a couple of drinks with friends (the definition of "couple" varies, though).

In other news, I turn 20 this year and I'm really freaking out about it.

So I turned 18 today, which is like the 'manhood starting' age here (21 in 'merica) and everyone is making a big deal about it. Now don't get me wrong, I love being able to buy my own alcohol and go to clubs and such, but is it really that big a deal? I mean, are there any major maturity events that happen in my body around this time? Am I being a little *****? Thoughts?

Also, what was your just turned 18/21 experience like? Was it bitchen?

Your legally an adult at 18 in the US as well.

I don't really ever think about how old I am or am not; it has little meaning to me. Also I am allergic to yeast so I can't drink alcohol anyway.

Eh, I felt no different, except I legally got drunk in clubs at last.

I was already working and moved out and stuff, which is fun, except your money goes on rent and bills and boring adult stuff.

Well, you can buy cigarettes?

I have no idea what it's like for you over in the Outback. I got all excited because I was allowed to buy lighters and cigarettes at that age, and then I sort of realized that smoking was pretty stupid in the first place. Also was pretty excited about the owning a gun part, but then I realized that a gun costs money. Yeah. Money sort of becomes a thing.

So yeah, despite being on the grid and now the illegal shit you do actually will get you jail time, it's not to exciting. Unless you plan on getting addicted to cigarettes. Then... I guess go crazy.

I think it mostly marks the age where people get away from their parents, but seeing how mine talked me into the community college here, that kinda backfired.

21 though? I'm looking forward to 21. I already got all my drinks planned out.

People's attitude towards you might change, but your attitude doesn't have to, feeling like you were already mature? Youthful hubris! Wait until you're nearing thirty, you'll damn well feel different then. :D

In case you're wondering, a few hours after the OP I was beating my much, much more sober friends at pool and somehow sending out perfectly spelt text messages despite the many scotches I had consumed, then I laid in bed until 2am thinking about what I'd accomplished over 18 years, which was not much.

So alcohol, friends, pubs, pool, drunk texts, guilt, depression and regret, not a bad night.
