Howdy y'all, I was thinking about buying a mic to chat with my friends in COD. However, when I got to the store they were selling a crappy little bluetooth for $50 and a pair of really sweet looking Turtle Beach PSX1 (or something like that) for $90. My question to those of y'all have elite surround sound headphones is, do you feel it legitimately enhances your gaming experience?

You gave 23 minutes for people to answer, be patient, not everyone comments on everything. (I'm a dumbs)

As to your question, yes, everything is enhanced with a quality headset or headphones. I spent $50 on my last pair of earbuds because I require only my music to be heard while listening, and that music must be absolutely flawless quality. I'm very picky. If something sounds shitty, I start finding a way to make it better, lest it completely ruin my experience.

I HAD Turtle Beach, but in my honest opinion I don't think they were worth it. Normal headsets are fine and I never really took advantage of all its capabilities like I thought I would. I now always stick to a normal pair.

Also, I would like to add that my pair broke after a couple of months, nothing of my fault. Maybe bad quality, or maybe just unlucky I don't know, but in my opinion I wouldn't bother.

Although don't just listen to my opinion, for some people they are great.

It depends, are you talking about the PX21? If so it's awesome. I wouldn't spend the money on it personally, but that's because I only play single player.

It's quite tasty for a wired headset.

Yeah, surround sound is definitely the way to go, if you can. My headphones broke over the weekend, and I replaced them with these: http://www.trittontechnologies.com/index.php/products/gaming_audio_technology/ax-720/

So far they're very nice, and I was very happy to see that they offered an optical input. I haven't used the microphone yet though.

They were on sale at Best Buy for $99, which is cheaper than I found them for online.

i have had a pair of every xbox version turtlebeach, even though they are different consoles the headsets are the same. personally i would go for the turtlebeach even the cheaper of their set are much much better than the consoles version, you can hear parts of the game you can't normally hear from the TV, makes your game so much better.

I have no experience with the Turtle Beach sets but it all depends on what quality your looking for in a headset. If you want the best sound quality where if anything isn't played through the sound card at the highest setting it sounds like crap then you should go with some of the highend headphones only in which you will have to get a stand alone mic to talk to people.

If you just want to chat and listen hell a 20 dollar pair of logitechs would fit the bill until you find something better. I had a pair that worked pretty well for me until they started falling apart a year or two later. Now, I currently run with the Creative Fatality set with built in mic and I've had no issues with sound quality or people being able to hear me.

However, you'll need to find a pair that fit you for the best results. The creative ones cups don't fit all the way over my ears either because my ears are too big or my head is, as after a couple of hours of use it is no longer comfortable to wear. Best bet is to look online and track down reviews from people that have used them in the past and go from there.

Lol, apologize for sounding impatient, but something must have gone wrong. I sent it semi-early last night.

No, I apologize. Fucking AM/PM bullshit... not to mention my disregard for even glancing at the date on your posts.

I have this headset http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/xbox-gaming-headsets/ear-force-dx11.aspx

so far i am very pleased with the setup, the sound is really good i can hear all the little things going on in the game. they also work very well while watching movies at night. i was thinking of trying to use them on my PS3 since all it needs to operate is a USB and optical cable, most likely i won't be able to use the mic since it's not bluetooth but whatever.

the only drawback to this set up is if you're using an older 360 model with an HDMI cable and want digital sound, you'll have to buy an adapter with an optical cable plug built in.

other than that, i am very pleased with my headphones well worth the money.

My brother has a pair of these, I used them a lot this month and well...they were OK. Not great, not fantastic but OK. They work exceptionally as a pair of headphones and as a mic but the wires will drive you around the twist. Not to mention it doesn't isolate sound well so anyone in the room can hear your friends, if I remember correctly.
