I second that. A new Monty Python that was as well written and acted as the original would beat the pants off Mad TV, Saturday Night Live and the other skit shows that are still on the air.
I'd add Greatest American Hero (an updated version with Ralph thwarting terrorists instead of Cold War spies and using today's special effects would be so much better); Voyagers (best American produced time travel show ever. I qualified it with American, because I love the British TV show Doctor Who too); and Sherlock Holmes (that wonderful TV show Grenada did. They never did quite do all the stories Sir Conan Doyle wrote, so it could be a fairly long series. Wouldn't be quite the same without Jeremy Brett, but Matt Frewer does a great Holmes too).
