Here's a snippet of a conversation I had while working the entertainment desk of Asda last Christmas:
Girl - "Hi, do you have any copies of Twilight on DVD? It's my favourite vampire film."
Me - "Yes we do. It's in the chart section. So, it's your favourite vampire film? How did you feel it compared to 30 Days Of Night or the Blade franchise?"
Girl - "Oh, um, I don't really like vampire films. I just love Twilight."
The thing is, I wouldn't take issue if they used Twilight as a stepping stone into better vampire fiction like the pretty great True Blood and the even better stuff like Near Dark, From Dusk Till Dawn, 30 Days Of Night etc, but many of them don't. They watch/read Twilight and assume it's the best thing out there.
