I'm a man, but I'll reply nonetheless, briefly:
The book was terribly written and dull. The movie fixed most of its mistakes, such as the pacing and the endless paragraphs spent on Bella gazing into Edward's eyes. It had a nice score, some interesting angles, but terrible actors mostly and some impossibly awkward dialogue.
All my female friends think the same, actually.

I still haven't managed to read any of the books, because of my throwing across the room response.

The movie was amazing. I have never laughed that hard at anything, my god. So awkward! I've said it before, but Twilight's big problem is that it's secondary characters are hella more interesting than it's main characters.

I went to a Twilight con (I knew people running it!) and was really impressed with the actors, Edi Gathegi, Taylor Lautner and Nikki Reed that were there. Nikki Reed is hardcore cool, and an amazing, inspirational person. And that was really interesting, learning why she decided to play Rosalie.

I like a lot of the aspects of Twilight, if you take away the idea that I am supposed to believe it's romantic. Goddamn I love messed up teenagers having crazy vampire stalker boyfriends. That's fun to see.

Also part of me yearns for Bella's dad, Tom Sellack and Billy Black, the paraplegic native American werewolf to have their own buddy roadtrip film. I would watch the shit outta that.

I've seen the movie, but only got half way through the book before I decided reading the endless paragraphs of attempted romance is not enough to keep me going for the killing parts.

It's crap. Boring. And makes absolutely no sense.

Why the fuck would a 150 year old vampire with all these cool powers, go to high school?

..not to mention drive a car.. not any old car, no, why would you have a totally kick ass, cool car, when you can drive a fucking VOLVO!

I could go on, but I really can't be bothered wasting any more time and words on this piece of garbage.. I'll leave that up to my missus, who has all the books, the blu-ray blah, blah, blah,....

Holy shit, this topic! It's so...familiar! Oh wait, that's because it's been done a billion and a half times, mostly when twilight was still relevant.

You're kind of stereotyping just asking the ladies, some guys on the Escapist like Twilight (Trivun). But I haven't seen the movie, just read the first book.
It's pretty much just Trivun though.

The word, other than bird, is 'fucknut', as in, "Edward Cullen is a fucknut'.

2 words Alice Cullen.

Eh Ashley Greene is rather attractive, provide the makeup and hair are done right and she is not looking like an alien-human hybrid.

The character, well I saw the movie after some prodding from family (brothers finance) and she did not get a whole lot of memorable screen time. Well now that I think about it I don't really remember a lot from the movie - well aside from the fact that that looks nothing like either Forks or Port Angeles, and there where no realistic characters in the entire thing.

Action flicks and cheesy horror movies are the only ones that can get away with that, when I am supposed to connect with your characters so that I can latter emphasize with their problems then they need personalities.

I saw a poster for the sequel yesterday, and what immediately struck me was how dull and utterly vacant Bella's stare was. It made me wonder how anyone can like it.

Temptation to post something named Twilight but unrelated like a song from ELO rising...

Some people like bad fiction. Some people like bad movies. Save your (lack of) pity for those who enjoy such things unironically or defend them on imaginary merits violently. The existence of the latter makes me more leery of anything involving Twilight than anything of its own content, except maybe "sparkly vampires who are 'vegetarian'". Oh wait, I guess the series itself scares me after all.
