The brutality of the attack struck me. Since when were eleven and ten year olds beating each other with bricks and then slashing each other with knives? I've been a victim of a nasty assault too, but I was 16. Excessive violence, though shocking, is generally percieved to be something that happens in the late teens. It is clearly not encouraged, but when you hear about a 16 year old getting stabbed, it is tragic, but to be honest, I tend not to be surprised anymore.

But at ten and eleven? That is the age when kids are still at primary school, getting ready to move to secondary education. This case reminds many of the 1993 death of James Bulger , victim of Robert Thompson and Jon Venables (both age ten). The nation was in outcry and both killers still are at great risk of vigilante revenge.

What are your thoughts on this case, and how do you feel about the ability of the courts to deal a just sentence?

Ten and eleven...that's just young enough to mean they're entirely a product of Nu Labours social engineering project. Be afraid.

Then again it is Doncaster, stabbing someone is like saying hello over there.

This.

Also, probably from a council estate (for Americans, read 'concrete tower versions of trailer parks') where the gang problems with the young thugs have gotten ridiculously high.

Great job, Labour. How they keep getting voted in his beyond me...oh...yeah, the Conservatives haven't had a good record with leaders over the last few years. They should put that MEP guy up for election.

There will be an outcry of blaming video games and odds are the courts will give the attackers a piss easy sentence with a promise never to do it again.

Well that is seriously messed up, I agree with Agayek... video games were obviously to blame /sarcasm

I believe that your comparison to James Bulger is slightly far fetched considering that Bulger was... 3 or something if I remember correctly, and died. Although I understand your reasoning that the accused are the same age. I believe that this just goes to show that some people, regardless of their upbringing, what they've been exposed to et al are just fucked up.

Take Igor Suprunyuck, Viktor Sayenko and Alexander Hanzha (otherwise known as the 'Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs'), nothing environmental could have influenced that... those kids were just screwed up in the head!

.... err because that would have been sick and in such bad taste!

It's obviously because of video games.
I hope that that's dripping with sarcasm, cos if not, you're a fool...but a lovable one...so...erm...a person?

Anyway

I'm gonna blame this on chav/yob culture and the lack of structure in the country.
We can't control our youth anymore and I've gotta say some of the blame has to be pointed at the parents here; raise you're kids right and they'll do fine...but probably end up the victim in this situation.
I'm 16 myself and last night, even when I was with a small group of mates, I didn't want to be outside any longer then I had to be.
Greed is also an issue here, as much as boredom. Greed, because the kids robbed their victims (monetary gain) and boredom because if these kids had something to do with their time other then roam the streets and *****, then they wouldn't get angry at random shit and decide to go and stab someone...
I feel I've ranted here and not managed to get much across but, as a 16 year old in Britain where as I type there's 2 gangs of chavs marching towards each other outside my house, I can say that this is shit that should not happen.

Children are generally a lot nastier and more violent when they're small. The whole "nice cuddly things" thing is just an illusion. -_-

Also, I can't believe you haven't tried to make a pun with "Left 4 dead" in the topic. That was a perfect opportunity.

Also, it's definitely all video games' fault!
Fuck, you beat me to it with Left 4 Dead.

I blame media - in particular the news, music and films.

I know its slightly off-topic in the sense its about mass murder, but the fact still stands - the media glorifies violence.

Still I think that at 10 or 11, you should not have to be described on the news as "cut from head to toe with a gash across his head. They had slashed his arms and face and he had no trainers or socks on. His face was mashed." or "hit with a brick, slashed with a knife and burned with cigarettes. "

I think people who do that kind of thing should be used as target practice by the MOD, no matter how old they are. Or at the very least have their legal and human rights severely restricted for several years, while they tour Jordan, Afghanistan and Burma.
