So, I've been following this case now for a few weeks, and I must say this "Trial" has been rather hilarious.
For those of you who ain't Norwegian here (and I imagine that's quite a few) I'll sum up basically what's happened so far.

Two Norwegians who worked in some sort of security company down there (yeah, fishy business, I know) are charged with allegedly killing their driver a few months ago.

Eye witnesses claim that he was shot with a pistol, even when the murder weapon presented in the trial was a shotgun the two eye witnesses can't say they recognize.

They've claimed that a simple Photo Journalist for a local newspaper back in Norway, who's never even been in the army, nor knows any of the defendants, is the brains behind the operation.
This is based purely on a picture found on one of the two norwegians' cellphones, where he's drunk, wearing an army beret, and pointing at a map.
The picture was sent to their phone by a common friend, in case anyone wonders how it got there.
Due to the fact that the Norwegians had army id cards, valid till 2016, the prosecutors claim that even the Norwegian King is in on the matter.
Thus they demand that Norway pays them, get this, 3000 BILLION NOK. (346384324954,68 EURO)

Latest news article is below ;
You can probably find some sort of translation tool on the web if you want to translate the site, as it's all in Norwegian :p

What's your opinions on this matter?
Can trials really become this silly?
I don't know whether they are guilty or not, but it all seems really fishy and tragicly hilarious to me.

Um... Right.

That is probably the silliest trial I've ever heard about.

I am norwegian, and I've been following the news on the "trial".
I'd say it's all bullshit, a cash cow.

The amount of money they want is insane, not to mention the below poor supposed evidence.
I believe they were found guilty by the judge long before the trial started.

And how is the King involved? Do they not know that he has no real power?

No, this "trial" is a mockery of justice.
Norwegian special forces should extract them, possibly with the help of our good friends, the US of A.
Then we should break all diplomatic connections to Congo
No more oil-funded money for you. (Norway gives a lot of money to underdeveloped countries in Africa).

EDIT:
I believe the claim was for 250 million NOK (41,6 million US dollars).

Hes wearing an SAS Beret. That's not allowed.
So the British are in on it too?

Also, they are charged with espionage too.
Just remembered.

If they found out that the British were in on it, they'd really raise hell.
Imagine an equal amount of money being demanded from England!
Oh, the horror!

Oh, the horror!
Then the U.S. would get in on it for whatever reason, then all hell would break loose.

Hehe. True enough :p
If it were americans stranded there like this, I would assume that special forces would have extracted them long ago though. Norway just sends two ambassadors to watch the trial.

The prosecutors now draw resemblances between the two Norwegians and Saddam Hussein.

Lovely!

But of course!
Who can't see the resemblence of a dictator and a Photo Journalist!

Its like they are long lost twins!

Damnit, way to go you just blew our cover they're on to us now you fool!
SHIT!

I knew I shouldnt've fallen asleep at the secret briefing that was held by several high up government officials at the top-secret base under the Tower Of London. Typical that I missed that I missed the part about not telling anyone.

Oh wait...

I wasn't supposed to mention that either was I?

No doubt the Norwegians should send this guy to negotiate.

I'm sorry what a joke of a trial, what kind of law system allows this?

I don't want that photo to have been edited. It's just awesome.

Yes, well, anyway, back on track, silly trial and I hope the Norwegians don't get executed.
The penguin is real. It's named Nils Olav, and is a mascot in the Royal Norwegian Guard.
He even has the rank "Colonel-in-Chief"

Back to the point.. I'm fairly certain they'll be found guilty in these trials. So I just hope they manage to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights

If they want that much money they should contact that Nigerian General I've been speaking to on email, he's loaded.

Sorry, thats some fucked up shit, I hope Norway get all Thor on their ass.
