You remember this game right? The sequel to that one bad RPG. What did my fellow Escapists think of it? It's only $15 right now on steam ($20 for The Game and The DLC) and I'm thinking about buying it. I remember playing it on My Xbox 360 back when It came out and thinking "This isn't that great...but it would probably be better on a PC" and from what I understand that was the opinion of most people who played it on a Console. So discussion time, What are your opinions on the game and do you recommend an Action RPG Addict like myself buy it?

They both were bad games. The difference is, though, the first one was so bad that it was hilarious. The second got rid of all the hilarious, but kept all of the bad.

Well the second one is slightly less bad, at that price it does cover the content you get but the experience is still not pleasant.
It's like cheap Justin Bieber concert tickets, ya you get your moneys worth but who the hell would want to be there.

I haven't yet played the second one, but I must inform you something which might make you frown with curiosity... I fucking love the first game.

That's right. I'm playing through it for the first time and I'm about 20 or so hours in and I'm having an absolute blast. I can, however, understand why most people wouldn't like it. The controls are a little clunky and it might feel a little limited in what you can do compared to other RPG's and I admit, the complete lack of being able to eat, sleep, sit down at tables, etc etc is a slight let down. Also, the voice acting for the game gets much flak, but I actually think it's quite competent for the most part. Hmm.

As for the second game, I'm looking really forward to it once I've finished the first.

EDIT: Also, for my personal curiosity, and maybe to enhance the thread a little, are there any others who like the Two Worlds games on here? And I don't mean a "Eh it's okay" like, I mean really enjoy it.

I have the second one. It's pretty good. I have it on Ps3 and I feel like had the game been optimized a bit more. Then it would have been great. It just always felt just below 30 FPS a lot of the time.

Besides that it's really fun. Espicially the Multiplayer which is a blast.

I quite liked the second one. It was a decent break from reality I thought unless, you're a mythical viking who spends his day battling...but I digress. The magic system is pretty brilliant and allows for some pretty interesting spells.
One thing I hated was the main characters taunts every 2 seconds when fightinh...only so many time can you hear manical laughter without wanting to put your computer/console out a window.

Not really worth your money. The first few hours are decent fun, but the combat is broken, the leveling system unrewarding, your gear upgrades are tied firmly to your level (Basically each few levels you can get a gear upgrade), the interface isn't great, there are quite a few bugs ,and the game gets repetitive very fast.

It does have a rather massive world map, fairly open and the horse mechanics are pretty neat. That being said, you only have your horse in the first part of the game.

Voice acting is terrible, the main story is lost beneath the mountain of sidequests and is not that interesting to begin with.

I wouldn't say this game is worth more than 10$, and that's if you're bored.

I had money burning in my pocket, so went for Rift instead of Two Worlds 2; if only to expand my knowledge of MMOs.

I actually enjoy it... multiplayer with friends is good, and that spell system makes being a mage actually feel like it should, experimenting and testing out new spells almost constantly... which would be better if physics damage worked.

Single player, horrible. Voice acting, horrible. Controls, interface, animations all horrible. but if you look underneath, you can have fun. The same goes for the first one... that was a little worse but it was hilarious.

I like both games. My brother and I thought the original was good, with a lot of potential (I probably spent over 50 hours on it in total). The second one was...Different, but I still enjoyed it more or less.

Bought the original for pennies on Steam for the comedy factor, played virtually none of it as it was pretty dire.

I have been reliably informed the sequel is dramatically better than it's predecessor, there's quite a lot out there who really enjoyed it. The spell system is supposed to be superb, rumoured to have hundreds of thousands of combinations (no idea how that works, just what I heard) - if you're looking for a solid RPG and have already done The Witcher, Dragon Age and Skyrim then this could be what you're looking for. If open-world is calling and you need something non-Bethesda Two Worlds II is about the only modern alternative.

Think I've just talked myself into buying the velvet edition (Two Worlds II + Pirates of the Flying Fortress expansion) whilst it's on sale, ha. I'm not done with Skyrim yet but this will be there for when I am.
