Wow...
I just saw the latest screens and footage for Two Worlds Two.. for those of you that missed the first one, Two Worlds was a terrible looking, god awful, glitch ridden game that wouldn't have even been at home on the first Xbox. The game was suppose to challenge Oblivion in every respect and failed miserably.
This new one however... I was blow away by the latest images and the sheer detail of it. Which brings me to the main topic of this discussion...

What case do you remember in which the sequel was so much better than the first on the same generation that it blew your mind?

Saints Row 2

Hot dog suits, chainsaws, a mission that has you storming a nuclear power plant to steal some hazardous waste in order to inject it into a dude's face, and ninjas on bikes.

THOSE are what I call improvements.

TBH, I found Two Worlds semi-enjoyable once I figured it all out. (and dropped the comparison to Oblivion)

It wasn't GREAT, but it passed some time.

OT: Saint's Row 2 is mine as well.

Possibly San Andreas over GTA III, although someone will complain about the numbering issue, lol.

Just Cause 2 > Just Cause

I liked multiplayer and everything. Everyone did jobs and the Resurrection spell was BROKEN.
Anyone killed could be brought back as a completely friendly character, and would take on citizen jobs. Orcs would be sweeping storefront sidewalks and everything.
It was pretty creepy yet also hilarious.

Favorite thing, Gathering Taint roots, going to the town. Drop them all and Step Back. When Night hits, Undead will spawn and slaughter.

bioshock 2, L4D2, Gears of War 2 all have improvements I enjoy and approve of. I hope dead space 2 can do the same when it comes out.
I've played all of those.. and honestly graphically and game play wise I never noticed much of a different in GoW or L4D. the game had improvements yes, but the graphics and play itself didn't change all that much.

Bioshock Two though, There were a lot of game play enhancements I enjoyed. Especially the tonic/gun dual wielding.

It looks the same as the first with slightly better graphics to me. And as you said, the first was so very bad.

Well, the first Saint's Row was pretty good, too.
Not quite as insane, but you know, it was fun.

It's also what gets you 7s and lackluster sales. Bowling mini-games, forced dates and driving your stupid fucking asshole cousin around gets you 10s and game of the year nominations.

Bad company 2, Mainly as this time it got the response it deserved as a (in my humble opinion) better game than MW2

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando made a lot of improvements. The first was good, but only 4 nanotech (health) and the inability to stafe made it a bit difficult. Going Commando added the ability to upgrade health and weapons, added stafing (or was that Up Your Arsenal?) and added several incredibly fun flight missions.

On topic: Fallout 2. All kinds of little engine improvements, a bigger story, more stuff, and still mostly on cue with the first game (aside from those talking deathclaws).

I never tried using resurrection on hostile characters, but this does sound especially hilarious.
