11 Years of jail time would really just be wrecking two lives instead of saving the child. This does rank pretty high as a stupid parenting mistake, but on the child abuse spectrum it's not that bad. Probation for now and if she breaks it then it's time for something more forceful.

It's more of a tragedy to lose your mom than to get high as toddler.

You go on buying into the government's fear campaign - they wouldn't want you to believe a harmless herb they don't tax could be beneficial, after all.

In Holland, it is legal (and taxed), and there is a lot of research to support the claim that it is bad for your health, especially in the long run. Some of the research may even be translated.

I've read a lot of the translation stuff and it is more of the same from everything else I have seen: In pre-existing conditions it may lead to psychotic and development problems. That is it, the numbers show that it is people who already have the mental problems that are a risk of suffering 'attacks' if they use cannabis.

The majority of the rest of health problems, non-mental, that comes from cannabis can be summed up easily as this: You're burning plant matter and breathing it into your lungs! One can not then act surprise that the resins and other gunk found in ALL burning plant matter is causing health problems.

The active chemicals in cannabis, how-ever, are NOT harmful to the developed body in any way. The arguments against the developing minds still stand though, there is evidence you shouldn't be using ANY substances during this period of development to start with. Cannabis isn't some how excluded from that.

All of pot's effects are positive.

Yes, inhaling smoke is totally and completely positive with no bad effects at all.

It's a two year old. It's brain is still developing, and I don't personally know what it does to a developing brain but I'm pretty sure it's not good for it. You seem to have an agenda in this thread, so you're overlooking the fact that the child is still growing, but maybe take a minute and just think about how silly you're acting.

But in a 2 year old... Jesus. The kid is learning new things EVERYDAY. And it doesn't just apply to 'book learning.' Studies done a decade ago on the use of marijuana on autistic children showed a decrease in both book learning and social skills learning: basically, what little ability autistic children had to socialize was being lost. I can only speculate that it would do something similar to a normal child.

Sorry to chim in, a study I saw found that Nicontin(as in they used the patch) Reduced the effect of down sydrome and Austism. Not that has anything to do with pot, its just I thought It was an interesting fact. Oh and I don't belive pot can reduce mental capicty but it can make it harder to learn and such and cause short term memory loss.

So again, toddles shouldn't be taking any kind of recreational drug.

They've found dozens of uses for nicotine that are beneficial. None of them, however, can overcome the fact that its highly addictive.

I read somewhere that the creation of a synthetic nicotine that has no addiction would be a godsend to medicine, even if not applied to tobacco products.

Well I hope they get on it then. Find some kind of non-addictive nicotine that doesn't cause all that cancer and such.

A toddle's brain is still forming. You mess with the chemical balance this early in life, you stand a chance of retarding them for life. Anyone who thinks different is a fool.

This is not the usual "legalize it / keep it banned" type of spiel. Doing something like this can and will affect a child for the rest of their life. I wish I could say that I couldn't believe people are this selfish.
