Actually, the page for it here describes it as literally using an adapted Xbox 360 controller. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military_law/4313331.html

I really hope they don't have the loose wire problems I do when needing to make that one headshot.

I wonder what methods of jamming or EMP devices would be useful against this.
Ahhh EMP, our last great weapon against the machines.
I'd forgotten about that.

....and the future of government control is here.
Is anyone else noticing the slow movement towards 'the future' as depicted by many sci-fi movies? Where the government is an all powerful corporate, and everyone else is tied down with laws and law enforcement means (ie. this vehicle) which are slowly taking away our freedom.

It's sad the way the world is going, soon it will be V For Vendetta coupled with Terminator.

You know what, i'm going to use this as on opportunity to ***** about the world we live in.
So from here on out, it's pretty much for me, letting go of my anger. You don't need to read it if you don't want to. :p

The world we live in has children growing up with little to no skills. for example, there are children who don't know how to light a match because their parents are too afraid that they'll burn themselves. But that's how you learn, through trial and error. Letting them make their own mistakes is the best way to teach them. So go ahead, let them cut, burn, pinch and bruise themselves. That's the way I grew up and I'm so much better for it.

We're wrapping our kids in cotton wool, as they float through life with no experience of hard work, or what not to do. Instead of learning how to chop wood for a fire with a parent at close range in case they miss, they go and grab the axe when dads not at home and swing it straight into their shins.

In this world we're raising a generation of kids who are loosing skills of the past, taking peoples word that something is bad, not trying for themselves, and generally lowering our society a notch.

Which brings me to my next point. I'm a great believer in evolution and survival-of-the-fittest (yeah, I can taste the controversy already ... mmmm controversy) I ask you, how are we meant to evolve, and reach greater stages if everyone is looked after by the laws, and limitations of this world.

Sometimes I wish I was back in stone age times. Because back then, the dickheads you see today would be swiftly killed, or kill themselves by the stupid things they do; and therefor wiped out of the gene-pool. No more idiot, or idiot's kids who learn from said idiot :)

It's by these methods that we can climb the ladder, and reach greater heights; how can we do that when people who are supposed to be dead, are kept alive by what I like to call 'The System'.

So that's my anger vented, the world we live in today is shit. That's the harsh and honest truth. Soon enough we will come to a stand-still in evolution, and stay as a corporately-run slave species to The System; where we know no skills besides: Spend Money, Make Money; and there you have it: The End Of The Human Race As We Know It.

Clarification There are my views, take them or leave them; agree or disagree. I'm not trying to push my beliefs on you, I'm simply trying to give you an insight to what I know and honestly believe.

For those of you who have read this far, (congratulations, firstly) thanks, I know I got WAY off track, I just really needed this vent. I feel much better now :)

Cheers Guys,
~Frosty.

using a "videogame-like controller,"
*Puts one hand on his head, the other on his PS3*

I sense danger coming to the gaming people.

Seriously, if this ends up being cited as a reason why video games cause violence, I totally called it.

The same could be said of the day that crossbows were invented. Being able to kill someone with just a flick of a switch has been around for a long, long time. Doing it from miles away was possible with the invention of artillery. This just makes it much more precise. We're still a ways away from imaging software sophisticated enough to target one side of an army versus another (and much, much further away from ways that it couldn't be subverted easily), so a human has to be behind the trigger.

My main doubt with the dystopian bureaucratic hypothesis of A Brave New World, or V for Vendetta, or 1984 is that the government will be organized enough to create a coherent entity. The government consists of independent people with differing agendas, the majority of which won't become the top dogs in the ideal world they envision. Few people hold to principles against self-interest (regardless of their beliefs) to stop from fighting against totalitarianism.

No government has ever reigned long without at least the tacit approval of the majority of their people, otherwise a revolution occurs. And until the disparity in power granted by technology becomes much larger, it won't. (Being able to nuke the world isn't significant unless you can avoid being shot in the head in the meantime. Having a robot army built to accept only your commands might be enough if you've got really good AI on them.)

This laser-guided rocket launcher is our best bet for taking down a gunship...

Uh, no apparently, but now that you mention it...

Anyways, the next logical step is to genetically modify a Falcon to accommodate weapon payloads comparable to an F-16, give it a few bio-mechanical implants, supersize it to about 50 feet wide, and train it to kill under radio command.

The problem is the dehuminization of the victim - urban use sounds like they have considered the potential use on U.S. targets as much as foreign ones- our rights will be forever gone when protesters get sniped and hunted down. When targets become videogame blips whats to make a soldier feel a pang of conscience killing a fellow American?
This sounds like that man-hack arcade idea for the Half-life 2 beta...

Ha! So it is! I guess we can't be "arsed" to snipe manually. That's how lazy we are.

While this is very cool it also reminds me the last time people gave a machine a weapon...

And it didn't turn out so hot for those humans.

Edit: Screw sniping, we need to put one of these on that thing somehow:

The best part is, after watching all the Terminator movies for the first time this weekend, I actually got that Skynet reference.

Hooray for me!

As for this, I can't imagine how stealthy this thing could possibly be.
too bad you didn't see them sooner. T3 was really shit though IMO.
T3 was tolerable for me; nothing can beat the robot and kid dynamic that Cameron achieved in T2, though. I'm looking forward to Terminator: Salvation now, even though it looks nothing like the previous films (which is logical, I guess)

Slow down a bit and notice this in the article:

"Other Possible Weapons for the ARSS
+ M249 5.56-mm squad automatic weapon, a small-caliber machine gun
+ M240 7.62-mm machine gun, a weapon used by the U.S. and NATO
+ AA-12 12-gauge, a full-auto shotgun
+ Peak Beam Immobilizer, a xenon strobe light that stuns targets with ?psycho-physical? effects like disorientation and nausea"

A Shotgun??? Seriously??? Every critic of his new weapon stand back, it just broke the awesome-meter.

On another note: The Us-citicens in this crowd should make use of their second amendmet right and purchase one of those; Its a weapon that you would need to fight of a spoiled gouvernmend so your constitution says you can get one :)

Why the fuck do the army spend millions on shit like this when their human soldiers don't even have enough normal helicopters...
