There was an incident where U.S. soldiers planned out an execution of Afghan civilians. I for one was completely shocked. It's one thing if it was accidental, collateral damage type of thing, but it's a completely different thing if they planned to kill civilians. There is no reason for them to be doing so. This is the reason why I didn't decide to join the military. While I believe it is honorable to serve, to protect your country, this is one of the most dishonorable and shameful things I have heard about recently regarding American military personnel.

Wow, those pictures are fucking disgusting.

Well, like RedEyes...I can't say I'm surprised. *Shrug* it's war. They're soldiers. Bad soldiers, I'll admit...but...mm, I'm not surprised.

Either way though, it's a terrible, tragic story.

War is war, and war is hell. These soldiers broke, and didnt act like soldiers. I hope they're punished severely.

Summed it up perfectly.

As much as I hate to say it, the draft actually includes everyone (well, everyone who can't buy their way out) not just people who are much more likely to sign up "Just to kill people"

Alas, it is very sad when such cases come to light, for even though the vast majority of soldiers are honourable and brave people who want to serve their country, there are always a few bad eggs who should be thrown behind bars for the rest of their life.

That's what I'm saying.

In a voluntary war, you sign up if you

a) have no other options (poor)
b) you're a fucking psychopath

Well, it makes the Afghan public more angry at the western world, more people will rebel against the occupying forces wich will give them a reason to stay there longer, thus making more profit from the oil, opium and war in general...

Not suprised... Not suprised at all...

Don't let the acts of a couple of nutcases taint your views on the whole picture. Besides SilentCom if you were there you probably would have had the moral backbone to report them for a psyche evaluation. It is terrible and shameful what these have done and it really does suck that it is going to ruin the image of all of the good things that the military has done.

I don't think that was what he was saying. If it were a draft it would include everyone, but since it isn't, people who are signed up "Just to kill people" are in a higher ratio than they would be in a draft.

Stuff like this happens in war. People that have issues are given guns, and this happens.
The important thing is to remember that not all soldiers are like this.

I understand what you're getting at but voluntary wars don't only recruit poor and psycopathic people. Plenty of middle class and well educated people volunteer therefore the percentage of psychopaths in the military probably wouldn't differ whether there is a draft or not.

Exactly. Although volunteers would fight to protect the country. Not invade another and shoot civvies. Admit it. A voluntary war would DEFINITELY have a higher ratio of nutters to regular people.
Better background checks are required, really. But that ain't gonna happen.

The soldiers knelt down behind a mud-brick wall. Then Morlock tossed a grenade toward Mudin, using the wall as cover. As the grenade exploded, he and Holmes opened fire, shooting the boy repeatedly at close range with an M4 carbine and a machine gun.

What the fuck man? I'm a member of the United States Navy, but this just pisses me off. Fucking assholes.

I'm not surprised at all, it is actually something I expected to happen. What is surprising is that it hasn't happened more often since its boiled down to guriella warfare.

Of the thousands of soldiers who have lost a friend in the war some are going to start resenting the civilians if for nothing else their complantency in the entire affiar.

The American army is full of those pretentious, and self righteous gits.

At least in the British army, you have to go through a background check, and have certain qualifications in order to join it.

In America their army is mostly full of idiotic school dropout's, and that's why this shit happens.

America please take note.
Thats the stupidest thing I've ever read. I'm leaving for training this summer. Ive been through the checks and seen the process I can assure you it exists. And to enlist, yo need to have graduated high school.

So you're wrong.

Anywayyy... psychotics and awful people will always exists. And they don't survive off their hate, so they need to get jobs. Some of those jobs will be as soldiers and policemen. Add to that the stress of being deployed, and they will tend to act out. One of the many, many bad things about war. Hopefully the military will start more programs prior to deploymen to help soldiers identify when their comrades start acting strangely, and teaching them the right person to express their concerns to.
