I don't buy Ubisoft games for the PC because of their bullshit DRM. EA too. The only gaming client I have on my computer is Steam, and I'm not particularly a fangirl of Valve, either. If there's any Ubisoft/EA titles I particularly want, I'll buy them for my console.

Have you tried using a shorter password? The only thing I've heard is that the launcher has a password length restriction, while the website does not. I believe it cuts off at 16 characters, maybe less.

UPlay, making sure you can't play.
Horrible puns aside UbiSoft tweeted that they aware of the problem.

It is starting to get to the point where if we boycott any and all companies with terrible business practices we are going to run out of companies to buy games from.........

U Play has been working for a for a while without any serious hitches (comparatively), they transition to a new client and run into a hick-up, they're working on it.
Translation to gamers: OMG THE SKY IS FALLING UPLAY IS THE PRODUCT OF SATAN'S ASSHOLE, QUICK LOVE STEAM HARDER!!

Holy hell guys, I mean come one, it happens all the time. Remember when steam rolled out steam cloud and it absolutely demolished your ability to play left 4 dead...for like 2 whole weeks of off and on outages?

I like Uplay to be honest. I thought it was a good way to add a little bit of extra value to a game by doing things you'd do anyway, then redeeming those actions for a game item or multi-player character.

However I continually get annoyed that pirates get a better product than I do from buying the game.

Don't publishers realise that the only people that have to put up with their DRM are the people who bought the games. Don't they realise that the pirates aren't getting inconvenienced but the paying customers are.

Why do they continue to hammer genuine PC gamers but do nothing to even try and stop those who are playing pirated console versions of their games.

I love PC gaming and always pay for my games but it isn't hard to see why people turn to piracy when they are getting a better product than from the official source.

Honestly, it does not bother me. People, if you have to play games on PC, you need to expect something like this happening. A game is more likely to be pirated from PC than gotten legitimately. Sorry, but whether true or not, that's reality.

Yet, I can play From Dust whenever I want on my PS3 without having to resort to online checks like this. Sure it might be slower because I can never have the right graphics card, but I can still play it whenever I feel like it on or offline.

This is another notch in the consoles are better side of the argument. We don't have to worry about companies screwing over our gaming experiences with meaningless and mandatory DRM like this.

Excuse me while I await a post from the person that always replies to stuff like this.
Emphasis mine. For the first one I can only say: does not compute.

As for the second one: I seem to recall my PS3 being bricked for a month or so a while back due to Sony shutting down PSN.

Bothers me a LOT.
Picked up the Ubisoft pack on Steam Summer Sale. Can't play From Dust, the game I most wanted to play. Needless to say, I will not be buying anything else from them, even if they drop DRM and apologize, it's clear they can't be trusted to run things.

I bought Heroes VI on the steam sale yesterday, and instead of playing the game I got to deal with this total bullshit. You can't play the game even in offline mode without logging into online mode at least once... but you can't log in to online mode because UPLAY SUCKS AND WON'T LET YOU!

Some people managed to satisfy this requirement by spamming the login button, but I don't have an existing account so I would have to create one which is utterly impossible. There's nothing on their so called support site, not even a hint of the problem.

What really pisses me off is that I bought this on Steam. A system that already has DRM, which last I checked was actually pretty effective. So why the fucking hell do we have to deal with Ubi's nonfunctional game breaking bullshit on top of it?

Oh right, because Ubi has the mental capacity of a lobotomized electroshock victim when it comes to DRM and other anti-piracy customer punishment measures.

I almost bought some Ubi games on the steam sale because I heard they were phasing out DRM from their titles (I thought it was retroactive). I'm glad I checked before I bought them, because it's still in there.

I think I'm done buying Ubisoft games on the PC. It's obvious they don't get and/or don't care for the platform, despite releasing games for it. Nothing I do will really help, since I doubt they'll ever get their act together.

So yeah, done buying Ubisoft games on the PC. Just a bunch of stupidity and headaches that I'm going to avoid now.
