I came across this article, and figured it'd be a bit of a change of heart for a corporation like Ubisoft:

Well, at least that means I can feel safe in buying Watch Dogs, my most anticipated game for the coming year!

Sounds like great news, but I can't view the page at work. Would someone kindly give me the gist of what it says?

EDIT: Nevermind! I got to read what some of it said.

Well, isn't that cool beans. Good on Ubisoft for actually listening to their customers. Yes what they did was pretty stupid in the first place, but now they're finally making good and learning from their mistakes. All companies will do stupid things their customers hate, but it takes a certain kind of company to sit down, admit that they're wrong, and make steps to fix it.

Now we'll wait and see how long EA continues to ignore their complaints and legitimize their business practices.

They didn't really admit they were wrong actually. In the interview, the two Ubisoft guys pretty much avoided the question. It's still great that they're finally removing that stupid DRM though, but are they going to remove it from their existing games?

Just a guess, but I think they probably will. I'm pretty sure they've been phasing out each game's DRM as new ones are released all along, so they don't have to keep buying tons of new servers. So, for example, Assassin's Creed II is already no longer always online. Or at least, I'm pretty sure that's what I've heard. I could be way off.

Pretty sure it's been turned off for both AssCreed II and Brotherhood as I played both those games in the past nine months and didn't have any issues (yet to get around to trying Revelations).

This is a good thing going forward.

Oh yeah guys, this is a pretty hard hitting interview from RPS that just came out. The RPS guys don't hold back at all.

Great interview, how game journalism should be done. I laughed at the Ubi reps trying to dodge the questions.

Well yeah, I don't think any company would have the humility to actually come out and say the words "we were wrong." But I feel it's sort of implied in their changing their policies, and doing an interview in which these changes are discussed. While their words say they they didn't feel there was anything wrong with it, if they truly felt that way they never would have changed it, and they especially would not have come out to acknowledge the change.

This is great news and about time. It seemed like their DRM policy was the main reason why they had such a bad reputation among gamers. I still don't understand why they kept using it for such a long time.

Excellent Interview. This is why RPS is one of my favourite websites for gaming news.
