A radio host here a couple years ago brought up this website (he's a fat dude). He was making fun of it, he tried to get on with a picture with him and 2 chicks in bikini's but got denied haha.

What the hell Internet?! Everyone is beautiful, they don't need you telling them whether they are or not.

Considering the entire point of the website is for attractive people, it would make sense they'd ban the unattractive.

And you're fucking crazy OP. Not everyone is beautiful. This is a fact. If everyone was beautiful, no one would be. For better or worse, we just have to deal with that.
I think the point was "We have sincere regret for the unfortunate people who were wrongly admitted to the site and who believed, albeit for a short while, that they were beautiful,"

TimeLord was saying who are these people to say who is and who is not beautiful? Or who are these people to be telling others that they are not beautiful just because their members don't like the look of them?

That announcement from the site owner was just...inflammatory.

"Shrek virus"? Did he not watch that film, because apparently he could use the morals taught by it. I'm not surprised, or claiming that they shouldn't be allowed to remove whoever they want from their own website, but they just sound like dicks.

Can't blame them. They don't want to advertise falsely. Of course, this doesn't stop me from making fun of people who frequent that site and sent in complaints. Oh, and not everyone is beautiful. Me being a prime example.
EDIT: Oh, and I love that trolling comment in his "apology".

They gained access without passing the required test. Of course they were kicked.

A website for narcissistic assholes...

I am disappoint.
I feel quite the opposite. Sure, it is appalling that there is actually a market for such a thing, but if someone is actually so openly shallow as to want to choose their partner based entirely on appearance, then by God let them have their cake and eat it. So that way in about 50 or 60 years when they are old, saggy, wrinkled, and alone the source of their regret will be all the more clear to them.

*Sigh* I'd expect that at least in the Internet people would stop spewing this "Everyone is purty!!1!" bullshit. Do you people even understand what beauty is for? "Beautiful" people are people who have better genetics, that means that beautiful people are less prone to birth defects and such. It is simply built into our brains trough evolution.

No, not everyone is beautiful, the site stated it was for "beautiful people".

Some people are more attractive than others, just a fact in life, getting pissy about is a bit silly IMO.

I don't see ugliness from a person's looks. In fact, I've never seen anyone who had an ugly appearence. I think ugliness exists on the inside, based on how a person acts.

But isn't beauty also subjective? I think of myself as a really good looking guy, now I'm sure others would agree. But there would also be those would think I look like shit.
As somebody who has been described alternately as "a total awesome hottie" and "King Kong" I'm inclined to agree with you sir. Different people will just naturally find different things attractive.

You're not being too beautiful atm my friend. Course I get what you're saying, but I get what the OP's saying too. All things considered though, the site's director could stand to conduct himself with a little more class, and a little less conceit.

What the hell?. A dating site is made for people to find people who have similiar interests to them and true love, not to judge people. Beauty is a subjective thing and whether a person finds someone beautiful or not is entirely his/her own opinion. This guy is a douchebag and I've lost a little bit more faith in humanity because of people like him.

Now it's just a matter of waiting for one of Those Guys that don't like the Escapist but choose to frequent it anyway to point out that "you're using one".

I'm ever so glad Those Guys aren't me.

OT: Site owner is a douche and runs a site for douches to fall in love and have potentially douchey children raised on the idea that surface value is paramount. It's not exactly good news, but... at least no-one's died? Something like that, anyway.

The guy's a misguided dick, that's all I can really say on the matter.

That's awfully mean...

Those I suppose if I felt like being equally as mean I could say how happy it makes me that for all their good looks, the 700,000 members are so socially incompetent and stuck-up that they have to use a dating site to find a partner...

...not that I actually feel that way.

First of all, why were people going on an online dating site? I honestly laughed when I read this thread title, but I know that it's wrong. I'm just cruel or something...
