Sorry, I'll edit that. I did genuinely think She was a guy (though now I realise that makes no sense in context), probably the last remnants of my masculinity desperately clinging on there.
Well it's better than assuming she's a lesbian and ramming the 'fact' down everypony's throat.

... okay, weird mental picture.
I assume it all started with this article: http://msmagazine.com/blog/blog/2010/12/09/my-little-homophobic-racist-smarts-shaming-pony/

Which was followed by this response: http://msmagazine.com/blog/blog/2010/12/24/my-little-non-homophobic-non-racist-non-smart-shaming-pony-a-rebuttal/

What's really ridiculous about the article is that the writer uses circular logic to argue that the show is homophobic, and makes herself look like the very thing she's arguing against. Her 'logic' is this: Rainbow Dash is a tomboy, tomboys are stereotypically lesbians, therefore Rainbow Dash is a lesbian, therefore the show is perpetuating stereotypes. What. The. Fuck.
Thats hilarious! As a gay woman my thoughts were (in this order):
1) Rainbow Dash is totally my favorite!
2) Why do i like Rainbow Dash?
3) Probably because she seems so gay.
4) Is she gay?
5) Idk, doesn't matter, to me she is now!
6) Where was Rainbow Dash when i was little?

Maybe she is gay. Would it be so bad if she was? Some gay kids could have someone to relate to on tv. I NEVER see myself portrayed honestly in the media.

I think "Manchild Singularity" would be an excellent name for a band.
Can it be a MLP tribute band?
Indeed!

"Good evening, we are the MLP tribute band known as 'Manchild Singularity', and tonight we will be starting with 'Ode to Flutterage'.

#I said, you're going to love me!
No matter what I have to do
As soon as one of you touches this net
I'll get some adoration from you!
Now, time for our version of "Winter Wrap Up"

*epic metal guitar riffs*
*deep and scary voice*
"WINTER WRAP UP WINTER WRAP UP, LETS FINISH OUR HOLIDAY CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!"

If you have watched a few episodes of the show, and you legitimately don't like it? Fine. Your opinions are your own, and you're entitled to them.

If you've never watched the show because of the fanbase and the memes? Just forget that for an hour, and give it a whirl. It just might surprise you.

If you've never watched the show because ponies are for girls and gays, and watching a show about ponies will make you gay, just grow up, dude. Your view of what is and is not manly is broken and outdated. (And ironic, too, since being afraid to try new things is EXTREMELY unmanly).
I could never watch a show whose fans attempt to greentext and memespam on regular forums. These are my bare standars.

The show itself seems like spoungebob with ponies though.

im sorry but i dont feel right watching something starring a pink cartoon pony.
Suit yourself. I, on the other hand, am voting Pinkie Pie for ruler of the galaxy. Because she's just that amazing ^_^

I feel sorry for you, and for anyone with your mindset. You must lead a very empty life, missing out on awesome games like Kirby 64 and so on. Just because something's pink and cute and cartoony doesn't mean it doesn't kick ass.
im not saying that i am totally against watching it, but you have to admit that it turns some people off of watching it
Well sure, but it shouldn't. Again, if you're turned off by pink you miss out on gems like Kirby. If you're turned off by cartoony you miss out on gems like Zelda: Wind Waker. If you're turned off by flowery you miss out on gems like Okami. It seems to me that the best things in life appear at first glance as if they were intended for little girls. And personally, after Robot Unicorn Attack received as much adoration as it did, I can't possibly see how anyone can have preconceptions about this show.

Oh, look another pony thread!

I'm neutral on this whole thing. The show is fantastic and one of the best animated shows in years, but GOOD GOD its fanbase and the never ending flood of pony pics really piss me off.

I don't hate you folks, but you need to take it down a notch. The again most of these threads are made by haters and or first timers.
W're pretty chill about the whole thing and keep the ponies to ourselves until someone mentions them. They we usually only try to get people to check it out and will lay off them if they still don't really like it. It's only when the haters arrive do we bring out the big guns.

Let this be a lesson to all those possible haters (not to imply you are one) out there: You mess with a brony, you get the herd.

To be fair, the spam only really kicks in when it becomes blatantly obvious that the only non-fans in the thread will never accept the show and will stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the reasons to like the show being put forward. This happens about half-way through page four in this thread.

I have pretty much the same story as everybody else, when it comes to first getting into the show.

But I have to mention that, as an art student, the thing that stuck out to me first about the show was just how damn pretty the whole thing looks. And not only that, but the animation is really solid, which shows just how much the animators cared about what they are doing- always a good sign that a cartoon will be great.

Plus the fanbase is phenomenally awesome.

Jeez, I said let it die, stop replying to me already. I was just expressing my opinions, and think no less of any of you. I just think the my little pony thing is just out of control mad. That's all, and I make a few stupid posts, and you're on me like it matters. At the end of the day, it's a TV show, and makes very little difference to anything. So if you'd kindly stop going mad about why I insulted it. If you think I'm stupid or morbid, go ahead, call me so, because I'm not going to retaliate. I'd appreciate it if you just stopped complaining about the few stupid posts I made...

Thanks.
No hard feelings sir! However, it would be most appreciated if you would apologize for your hate filled insults. We would never ask you to change your opinion, but we'd like to maintain civility on this thread.

By the way, your original posts largely concerned mocking our choices and the show on fairly baseless grounds. This one shows a fair degree of tolerance and understanding. Are you sure the show hasn't rubbed off on you, even slightly?

Peace and Love and Friendship forever ^-^

I don't think I've ever said the words "What the fuck?" so many times in such a short period.

Cute show though.

The show is freaking awesome. It's enjoyable and well-written, well-animated, and well-acted. Seriously, it just defied all expectations and manages to actually be good. Plus, Fluttershy. She's genuinely cute; not that superficial OOH SPARKLY cute of the toys or previous series, but actually genuinely adorable. And Pinkie Pie actually managed to turn her first impression ("Holy crap that pony is annoying") into one of the most beloved characters on the show. 'Cause she's freaking hilarious.

You have not truly said 'what the fuck' until you have seen Pinkamina Dianne Pie

She's farming rocks on an Amish Pony Rock Farm.

What the fuck.

Pinkie Pie, is one of the main reasons for the many WTF's.

Figure I'll finish episode 4 (watching it as I type this) and then take a break.

Also I wholly agree with the Fluttershy assessment. I think its the soft, soft voice. Good lord, I sound like a right bastard. I need some sleep and so does Apple Jack, shes beating a dead tree!

Sorry dude, you're not escaping that.
YES! SOMEONE MADE IT!

This is mandatory in all of these threads from now on.
I think someone put her face on Rainbow Dash

Hahaha.

So when I left to play some games today this thread was 3 pages and now it's 7. I just assumed the mods merged another pony thread because of the page increase. I guess not.

That's exactly how I described it to a friend. Which is probably why I love it.

This is true for me, except I liked Pinkie from the start too.

I wonder what the next big thing is going to be.
My Giant Scorpions of course, instead of being cutesy plot a day comedy, it would have a large over arching plot line, and brutal fights to the death, and instead of learning about friendship, we would learn the benefits of stabbing former allies in the back for you own benifit, and they'd all be male, not all of them would be Scorpions though, there'd also be Spiders and Centipedes and such, there would be a Scorpion that only broke into song every once in a while and he would only sing Heavy Metal songs and it would be Awesome!

Holy Crap I need to write these ideas down!

Characters:

Main characters:

Blood Stinger: A Scorpion with a past of law breaking, betrayal and demise of a criminal empire, most of it done to him, he enjoys a fine drink and the thrill you get from a quick clean kill, he doesn't like to talk too much but when he thinks of something clever to say he says it.
Awesome. I'd totally watch that. GO MAKE IT.

Or you'll make Pinkie Pie cry =(

Poison Pincer: Spiteful, quite loathsome individual with a tongue almost as venomous as his tail. Only taken around for his knowledge of esoteric topics which turns out to be useful more often than not. Has a problem with drugs which might be contributing to his personality disorder but not using them might make him worse, such are the perils of My Giant Scorpions: That personality trait you dislike? Yeah, it might be holding back something far worse.

I still don't see why people like Rainbow Dash.

I'd probably kick her in the shins if she were a real person.
Yeah, other than looking the coolest I don't really like her that much. I don't hate her by any means, but she's not on the top of my list.
