I still don't see why people like Rainbow Dash.

I'd probably kick her in the shins if she were a real person.
Goddamnit all my pony images are on the hard drive I took out! Gaah! I'll be right back, I'm going to fiddle with my hardware!!

Imagine I posted that gif of Rainbow Shy on the floor curled up and cowering. That's my intended response!

I've not been on the escapist much lately and dont watch tv anymore because i had been playing games or working. Last few weeks when im on the escapist ive been seeing the pony avatars...
Is it good? Im just slightly confused to see something like that on the escapist.

oddly enough im reminded of this pic by a fav artist on deviantart
http://rinacat.deviantart.com/#/d38lh3k

Edit: Im scared right now... Very scared... I think ive almost been converted into a fan 0_0
Im going to go into a corner... *rocks back and forth* "I still have some manliness. I still have some manliness..."
You are lost, good sir. The pony plague is spreading. I can already feel my resistance weakening to the show as well. People keep praising its writing, saying it's something adults can enjoy alongside kids. People keep using them for internet memes, popping up all over the place (Especially 4chan. Jesus christ.) and some of which I've seen are actually funny. But, like all other skeptics, I still resist. I don't really want to be pulled into a kids show, even if it is funny.

But then I remember other kid's shows I've gone back and watched, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Rocco's Modern Life, and thoroughly enjoyed. There is some merit to these shows. They're funny. And about half of the humor goes over kids heads. So who knows? I may fall as well. One thing you don't want to do is feel guilty or less manly for falling for this. Good writing and clever humor can trick anybody. Even if it's about ponies. Do not fret. From what I have heard it's a decent show...

Must... Not... Watch...

If I had that picture, I'd laugh. Not even kidding.
You're a mean one, mister Grinch...

[sub]this is meant to be an animation. How strange...[/sub]

The show is freaking awesome. It's enjoyable and well-written, well-animated, and well-acted. Seriously, it just defied all expectations and manages to actually be good. Plus, Fluttershy. She's genuinely cute; not that superficial OOH SPARKLY cute of the toys or previous series, but actually genuinely adorable. And Pinkie Pie actually managed to turn her first impression ("Holy crap that pony is annoying") into one of the most beloved characters on the show. 'Cause she's freaking hilarious.
ALL GLORY TO THE GIANT MUSHROOM!

This thread is now about cactus juice.

I love the show but I think I love the Brony community a lot more. I had a guildmate I hated and disagreed with on a lot of things, but this series has made us the best of friends now despite our differences and past history.

I will have to say that the endless stream of image macros from the bronies grates after a while... not to mention makes the forums look sloppy.

Look at it this way - the worse that can happen to you from too many ponies is....
COMPLETE AND UTTER RAINBOW FAGGOTRY.
And trust me - that's no problem at all, in fact it's faaaaaaabulous ! :D
I was damn well quoting what has happened to my good self and apparently someone decides to be offended by this so I do apologize about being 'homophobic about myself' to whoever decided to complain ^^

Sorry, I'll edit that. I did genuinely think She was a guy (though now I realise that makes no sense in context), probably the last remnants of my masculinity desperately clinging on there.
Well it's better than assuming she's a lesbian and ramming the 'fact' down everypony's throat.

... okay, weird mental picture.
I assume it all started with this article: http://msmagazine.com/blog/blog/2010/12/09/my-little-homophobic-racist-smarts-shaming-pony/

Which was followed by this response: http://msmagazine.com/blog/blog/2010/12/24/my-little-non-homophobic-non-racist-non-smart-shaming-pony-a-rebuttal/

What's really ridiculous about the article is that the writer uses circular logic to argue that the show is homophobic, and makes herself look like the very thing she's arguing against. Her 'logic' is this: Rainbow Dash is a tomboy, tomboys are stereotypically lesbians, therefore Rainbow Dash is a lesbian, therefore the show is perpetuating stereotypes. What. The. Fuck.
I think the first article is the very definition of 'over-thinking it'. No-one who watches the show is going to be profiling the character's race or sexuality. The people who made the show probably did not have race or sexuality in mind. It's pure and simple entertainment, and very well written and funny entertainment at that.

Edit: If I had to knit pick I'd say that there was one area of the show where they did stereotype unfairly, in that Appledash (is that her name? It was quite late last night when I watched it) might as well be called "Hillbilly Pony", head-butts trees, and lives with her entire extended family of about 100 people (or ponies). I imagine some people could find that distasteful.

But she doesn't. She has a large extended family that visits from time to time - like in the first episode - but as far as I know she live with her granny, her big brother and her little sister. Perhaps you only saw the the first two episodes? =)

I like Apple JACK (lol Appledash; someone draw me that pony!) She's honest and hard working and smart, if a little too stubborn for her own good.

My favourites are Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy though. Hey, they have the same VA =P

Yeah I've seen up to episode 8 now (yep, I've spent most of my day watching MLP) so I retract my last statement.

Of course it does, if you feel the need to make up for it... brony. Makes me glad to be female; we don't have to prove our femininity to anyone, we can like practically whatever we want! Silly mans =) *brony hug*

You know what sucks?
That most people using pony avatars are trolls
I've seen ponies outside the escapist now, but it won't last :)
