Some time ago I started working on a remake of UW1 using the Creation Kit. I got so far then the bugs started to hit the fan and I was forced to stop while I waited for a patch. Time went by and the project started to slip from my mind, but I don't want that to happen. I'm determined to get this finished and so I've recently taken up the gauntlet and work has once again commenced.

I took a bunch of screen shots today so I'd like to share with you all. Let me know what you think.

Great to see that UW still gets some love. I'd really like to see how this turns out.

I don't know anything about the CK, so I wonder if it allows you to implement certain mechanics from UW like the runes, hunger etc?

There are already mods out there for hunger. The shrines are going to become word walls where you can learn your shouts/mantras. I don't think I'll be able to make magic run with a rune system, but I'm going to get some of the magic items from the original game in there (potions of flying, ring of leaping, etc,).

The screen-shots make this look very promising.
Are you going for a play-by-play remake (same characters, areas, quests) or are there going to be some changes/additions to it?

(also - thread bump I guess?)

I'm always glad to see attempts at an Underworld remake. The screenshots are very promising and I wish you luck. Please post some UI screenshots when you can; I am very interested in seeing your inventory/status screen interpretations. Please, please keep the classic late-Ultima paperdoll.

This seems nice Id like to try UUW and this would be a great way.
Try to keep working on it and not end up in limbo like a lot of remakes.

It's my intention to create an homage rather than a direct remake. A lot of the areas just wouldn't be interesting if they were copy pasted from the original. Take the large cavern with the bridge in the screen shots. In UUW this was a single room with a jumping puzzle. I've expanded it be become a level in its own right. So expect to see familiar sights and characters, but there will be some suprises thrown in here and there.

That would be awesome but probably not possible to implement. I am going to be limited by what the engine allows. Same deal with with the magic rune system sadly.

Well it'd be free since the licence doesn't allow for anything to be sold for profit (it is using Bethesda assets after all). It purely a labour of love.

I'll probably put a version of this out once the first level is completed, just for people to try out.
