Actually, I'd say the majority of the people who would buy this are probably on their way to pre-order it already. A bigger than expected number of much asked for characters, better balance, tweaks to X-Factor, a new potential anti-Phoenix weapon in the meter sapping exchange combo, etc. This release is for fighting game fans, and we're generally very excited about it. There's also the extremely beneficial aspect of not having to struggle with which characters to include in tournaments because some people have certain characters and some don't.Cavouku said:You know, that's actually fair. They can release it as a disc, and I don't think that's what people are upset about. It seems to be that Capcom has no intention of just ever putting it out as DLC, and that's the problem. I don't see why they don't do a Dragon Age: Awakening deal, honestly. I bought the disc version of the game, but knowing that it was available online, as DLC, made me glad for those who felt that was better.StriderShinryu said:Can't say I'm shocked. It makes sense to do it this way and, had the option for a DL version been available, I would have bought the disc version anyway.
But the difference is, Capcom could release individual aspects of this game for DLC, instead of the whole thing (characters, backgrounds, game modes, music, etc.), and would... I imagine there would be a better profit from it.
Not that much of it matters, because the majority of people who would normally buy this are so pissed at Capcom right now they are leaking rage into an ominous cloud that hovers above their head so that they don't overload with it.
It's true, I may be over imagining the scope of the fanbase. It's hard not to, there seems to be a small tidal wave of people, and there was recently a chanting for MML3 at a local comic convention, and some booing took place towards Capcom.StriderShinryu said:Actually, I'd say the majority of the people who would buy this are probably on their way to pre-order it already. While it is definitely true that Capcom could have released the content as DLC, it's a smart move for them to not do it that way even if, as you yourself say, they would probably open themselves up to more profits that way.
Either way, I think you're massively exaggerating the number of people who really wanted MML3 to the degree that they would boycott Capcom because of it.
And then I'll wait two months after that to pick up Ultra Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 for the same $20 price tag.Ghostwise said:I'll wait another 2 months and pick up Super Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Deluxe for $20 dollars instead.
They said Ultimate won't be DLC. They never said that DLC won't be for Ultimate.Baresark said:Hmmmm, what does this mean for my DLC characters? Can I not carry them over to Ultimate MvC3? That is fucking lame.
Seconded. I had a bad feeling they would pull a stunt like this, and it makes me glad I stopped buying Capcom products a long time ago.Xzi said:Annnd...all together now: go fuck yourselves, Capcom. That's the last time I buy anything new from you. Don't think I've ever been quite this pissed over a game release.
It'll probably work the same way as the original SF4 costumes, just re-download the unlock pack.Baresark said:Hmmmm, what does this mean for my DLC characters? Can I not carry them over to Ultimate MvC3? That is fucking lame.
Hunch? It's confirmed as far as I'm concerned.SageRuffin said:I don't find this all that surprising. This only further cements the hunch that some of the higher-ups at Capcom are just fucking insane.
Damn right. They don't want your money, so don't give them your money.Mahorfeus said:Hell, I paid 70 bucks for the special edition of the last game. I planned to buy every single damn character made available as DLC, but seeing this bull being pulled...
They can't have my money.
