The PS1 game Spider, in which you controlled a spider. That was so awesome at the time, but I get the feeling if I played it again today it would just fall apart in my hands.

Also Operation: WOLF (NES), Nightmare Creatures (PS1) and Halo 2 (Xbox).
I think I played a demo of that game spider when you went around in this pipe.

OT: The game I have played that atleast I think is obscure is Divine Divinty great RPG it's a bit rogue like with every item spawn and stats being random which is good and bad. If you're not careful you can ruin the best armor in the game well I think it's the best by getting a bad stat spawn making it useless in late game.

All games I'm trying to get but due to obscurity and cult following (which I suppose cancels out the "nobody has heard of" deal) are too damn expensive.

Wild Arms
Tombi
Skies of Arcadia
Demikids

the first three seem to range in price from AU$60 for Skies and Wild Arms, to $200 for Tombi.

Played this game once round a friends house that was rather odd, and for the life of me, can't remember what it was called. It was a beat 'em up on the PS2, set in a mental institution and the only characters I can remember were one guy in a straight jacket and a midget dressed in a devil costume on stilts. If anyone can remember the title, let me know, its been bugging me for years.

You can get a slightly updated version of Skies of Arcadia on the Gamecube. You might well be able to pick that up plus a Gamecube for less than the price of a copy of the original game.

Its the Gamecube version I'm after to play on my Wii that turns up those prices unfortunately. Granted $60 isn't that bad and is less than the price of a new game, but only just.
The American version isn't quite as expensive (as usual) but then I'd have to either buy a NTSC console or the freeloader disc to play it.

This is why I like Nintendo's handheld game systems, I can buy from any region I want and its not region locked.

WAR OF THE MONSTERS ON PS2.
I LOVED THE FLOATING EYEBALL!

I couldn't find it in ANY game stores anywhere, I had to get it off EBay! xD

I'm probably not the only one that knows of this game but I'm sure only about 10 people know of it.
You know about whiplash? Finally! No one I know has ever heard of that game!
Same! Apart from my brother...we got it when I was 12... he must have been about 10! o.o

I have the original XD

For me, RECOIL (same people as MAG) and Battle Beasts. The former is a Windows 95 exclusive tank game with kick-ass gameplay and graphics, the latter is a Windows 98 exclusive beat-em-up featuring anthropomorphic furry robots that use sewers to get places.

They are both EPIC.

Treasure world. It's a relatively fun game but gets old really quick. Also it's a kid's game so I doubt many people here would have any interest in it.

At least I think it's relatively unknown...maybe I'm wrong.

Chaos Legion seemed pretty understated too.
There is a reason for that. Leave it in its grave where it belongs. That game was absolutely awful, even to to my past self who used to love just about every game he got.

The Ogre battle series, just take your pick, all of them seem to have faded into obscurity which is a damn shame. You have that sereis to thank for Final Fantasy Tactics, so show your damn appreciation by playing them, any of them. The Knight of Lodis (for the GBA) is a personal favorite of the series, and if you were as pissed as I was when I played FFT Advanced to find all the spirit and eloquence of the original game absent, the KoL is your game. Story wise it's what FFTA SHOULD have been.
