So it has a new shiny wrapper, big deal. Good job to the guy who made the 3D aspect but why the hell would Sega re-release a game with the only change being a sudo-3D upgrade. Let's move forward people not wallow in how good old games were.

Except Shadow the Hedgehog wasn't that bad. It may have gotten 5-6 from the critics, but it got around 7-8s from all of the readers/users.

It was the last game to use the Sonic Adventure style of gameplay, and while the levels were kind of meh, the gameplay, replay value of the game, and the story well made up for its downfalls. It's far from being one of the worst Sonic games.

Back on topic though, I get it. The old school Sonic games were fun and still are fun, but something with Sonic Unleashed clicked. The day stages fused the 2 playstyles of the clasic Sonic games(Sonic 1-CD) and the Sonic Adventure games (Sonic Adventure-Shadow). It had all the platforming and other elements from the classics, and it also had the speed, homing attack and other parts from the Adventure games. If the based a game solely on those day stages, I'm sure it would be THE best Sonic game ever. We need more stages/games like this..
Instead of moving backwards with Sonic 4. =/
Shadow was okay, I'll tenuously admit that. And yes, the Day Spagonia stage was completely awesome. The problem with Unleashed for me was those damn Night stages were too slow, boring, and rather frustratingly difficult for all the wrong reasons. They also seemed to make up the majority of the game up until the point I quit entirely.

Make a Sonic game that cuts out all that extraneous bullshit that you keep putting in for whatever stupid reason, and I'll consider actually buying your games again, Sonic Team. I mean, fishing? Scavenger hunts? A poor man's God of War? Really?

Given Sonic Team's habit of always claiming to "go back to the roots," then throw in some stupid "innovative" crap at the last second, I am still skeptical of Sonic 4.

Dunno about you guys but the recent Sonic Colors vids sure impress me. If the only gimmick are those wisps, than it looks like I might have some fun with a sonic title this year.

Sega should be working on Streets Of Rage 4 if you ask me!
You know that's not going to happen.
I know, I know; but one can hope.
I dunno if it's just me, but I am hoping for a new House of the Dead game.

...Why yes, I own Overkill, it was fun! Why do you ask? :D

OT: Seriously, that fan needs to be hired as Sonic Team leader, or something. That was great! Sega needs games of this quality again. Good to know about Sonic 4.

I literally JUST watched that video on Gamesradar and I came on here, first topic I see at the top of the page addresses the fact that that movie was fucking awesome.

That was beautiful. I can only hope Sonic 4 is half that awesome.

I completely agree with you on Shadow the Hedgehog, by the way.

It looks just like the old Sonic games. Why waste so much time to just make 3d version of the old games? There doesn't seem to be much innovation to the game.

The lighting effects were pretty awesome, but I'd much rather see Ristar get that treatment. Sonic gameplay is great to watch but not nearly as fun to play. Ristar's pretty similar but actually fun to play.

It looks pretty good. A fine good job from one person, but I really don't care for it or Sonic 4.

I mean, the old games were all good and fun, but I really wish Sonic Team would just focus on improving the 3D Sonics. If they had made a game that was just lots of Sonic Unleashed day stages, that would be the pinnacle of the Sonic franchise, seeing as the series has only had 2 clunkers (Sonic Heroes and Sonic 06)
You're forgetting emo sonic: the game.

Damn that stage looked awesome. Last Sonic game I played was Adventures on the Dreamcast. Loved the action stages but everything in between was painful to play. I remember one part involved a giant forest which was almost a maze. That experience is filed under 'Shit I don't want to remember'.

Has anyone here ever seen this

It's a Sonic mod for UT2004 (now UT3) and is a pretty damn good effort.
