LOL...this
Also, probably the character design for the upcoming BRINK shooter. They all look as if they have their brains half cut off from the rest of their head
I generally find the characters in ME and ME2 to be pretty good.. real enough to be believable but not overdone. When they turn to walk away after a conversation though.. *shudder* There's just something not right about the way they look when they do that. Thankfully they don't do it as much in ME2 but it's more about avoiding the problem than solving it because the few times they still use that animation, it still looks creepy to me.

I can put my finger on this one actually. Though if I tell you, you will doubtlessly never look at Bioware and their artwork the same way again...
The artwork in Bioware's games, especially the male artwork has a sort of gay vibe from the back that is hard to really put your finger on unless you know what to look for. I really suspect someone in their art department has a fetish. Take a careful look at the armor designs going back as far as KOTOR and you'll notice the armor and such looks fine from the front, but when the characters turn around the armor plates around their butt are missing and are replaced by some awfully form-hugging spandex right down to showing the crack in some cases. You'll notice this isn't the case with a lot of other games doing armor designs for the most part. It's also notable that while this is almost universal for male characters, the female characters oftentimes do not have armor the same way, though it does happen. I at one point mentioned something similarly off putting, and then I had this pointed out to me and I could never un-see it. It seems to be mostly exclusive to their science fiction titles however as DA:O didn't have this issue. I suspect this might be your problem.... you have this perfectly normal guy walking away and showing he's got a costume almost akin to buttless chaps. KoToR II is however the worst offender so I guess that sort of puts it on Obsidian
That said, I've never had a real "uncanny valley" issue with video games for the most part. I suspect it's because I'm older than most gamers (despite what some claim about their age) and actually remember when it was a big fad to digitize real people for games. Thus you had things like "Prophecy Of The Shadow" with horrible acting by strange looking nerds in cheap SCA costumes. As a result I find most of the cartoon characters oddly refreshing even after all of this time, because truthfully nothing was more off putting than actually using real people in video games. The only one that seemed to pull it off to any extent was Gabriel Knight 2 that I remember, others were just laughably bad, and the real people were more uncanny than the worst puppet person strangely enough (apologies to Tia Carrera).
And most of the cast from Oblivion. Just the way their head can sometimes stay facing you while they are walking in a different direction freaks me out.
