Listen, I don't own a playstation. BUT what I have always admired about naughty dog is that games were in generations. Crash - PS1, Jak - PS2, Uncharted - PS3, The Last Of Us - Probably going to be a one off thing anyways and that's fine. So why the hell are we making Uncharted 4! I got nothing against the Uncharted series. I think it's kinda bullshit.

No no no,

If we follow the Naughty Dog tradition, then Uncharted 4 will take things up a whole new level:

No-one said the next uncharted is Uncharted 4 (well, going by the teaser at least). It might be a prequel or a new series or something completely else with the Uncharted name.
Anyway, I've played Crash games released later than PS1...

Hopeful... But I don't think so. If that's case then so be it, but I just don't buy that they would do that.

Darnnit, you made that joke before me...

OT: Technically Uncharted has already broken this tradition by having a game on the Vita, a board game, a motion comic, a novel, a graphic novel, and maybe a film.

At this point, we can safely say that Sony likes money.
On that note, I don't think this will be the last of The Last of Us either.

We could also take the more cynical outlook and say "franchises are the way of the future".
At least Ubisoft seems to think so [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/125997-Ubisoft-No-New-Games-Unless-They-Can-Be-Made-Into-Franchises]

Well the teaser had an absence of Drake (unlesss the narrator was him, in which case has ND ever heard of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? :'( )

I didn't even know about all that. Talk about whoring the hell out... That's just depressing. Also, while we're talking about it. I think The Last of Us will be, well The Last Game, because let's face Naughty Dog has no idea what to actually do with the property.

Final Fantasy was supposed to be the last game and there are 15 of those, not counting spin-offs.

Not knowing what to do with the property doesn't stop Activision [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/129934-Activision-Still-Owns-Crash-Bandicoot]

The Last of Us already has a comic book and rumored film adaptation [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_of_Us#Comics]

But hopefully you're right... this could be a topic in and of itself.

Eh, people like it. I find the games a little silly, but they're entertaining enough, and if people want to buy tie-in products or continue to be happy with the games, why is it depressing for them to give that market what they want?

Actually, the reason it was called Final Fantasy was because that was Square's last attempt to make a good game before going defunct. Plus they said that Final Fantasy is going to have 18 numbered titles, and that was decided decades ago. Of course they'll probably keep going after that, but initially they were going to Final Fantasy 18.

OT: Breaking the norm...so we'll be playing as a minority character and going against evil white people. XD
Sorry, couldn't resist since someone beat me to Unkarting already.

We've already gone against evil white people. We were doing that in number 2 and 3.

But not while playing as a minority main character we haven't. I mean, we've seen white people kill other minorities in games, and white people kill white people, but we've not seen much of the minorities being main characters. XD

Touche, but that's a problem with more than just Uncharted...

They've already broken tradition by making a new IP before a new console generation starts. That's what's total BS

This is also completely in the tradition of making 4 main console titles for each IP before starting a new franchise. Until now Uncharted is the only one that just got 3 (although as mentioned elsewhere, the tradition would be kart racing spin-off).

I've got no problem with it, they've already proved that they're happy to do new IPs and Sony is happy to let them, but Uncharted 3 would be a sad note to end on and it's also a franchise that would benefit the most from new technology. I'd love to play it, and it helps Sony sell consoles.

If they made an Uncharted 5 immediately after, then that would be BS, but I don't think they will. As long as they do that, all that's happened is they swapped The Last Of Us with Uncharted 4 in their normal order and then (hopefully) gone onto another new IP-

Don't forget as well, with Uncharted 4, if that is the actual title, it would finally mean that Naughty Dog has learned how to count to 4. :D
If so, then let's continue trying to see if Valve can see that 3 comes after 2. XD

Not only have they broken tradition by making a new IP before the generation was over, but they also made a handheld spinoff of Uncharted for the Vita. Just sayin...

Didn't The Last of Us break tradition by being a new Naughty Dog IP before the next generation?

5th: Crash
6th: Jak
7th: Uncharted AND TLoU? (Blasphemy!)

I don't see why this would really break a tradition other than covering old ground.

Maybe it would be worth mentioning that the spin-off for Vita was kind of mediocre? For a new game for a new console, they did a good job, but it just wasn't very interesting. Though the game had loads of great aspects, and it was actually really extensive for a handheld, the story was so dull that it just wasn't very interesting to play. If the story was awesome then the game would have been quite good in my opinion, but I just couldn't get into it.

It's an incredibly fun game. Aside from the third person controls that makes any such games feel clunky, they really have a way of putting you in an Indiana Jones type's shoes. In 2 and 3 I had a ton of "wow" moments where what just happened in front of me was simply amazing. A real epic and adventure feel. From falling out of a plane to a puzzle room that has you putting together a giant knife to stab a giant man in an Incan-like ruin, it is truly impressive and fills a niche that no other game seems to fill.

Uncharted 2 is ranked as one of the best games of all time with almost perfect marks (something crazy like 96% on metacritic) and Uncharted 3 is in the 90's metacritic range, a very hard area to get to.

Both games sold more than 6 million copies. They are currently the 12th and 13th highest selling games on the ps3 of all time. Above it are only 5 COD titles, 1 Battlefield, 2 GTAs, 2 soccer titles, and 1 racing game. Even the PS Vita Uncharted title is the highest selling Vita title ever at the moment. The only one over a million copies sold.

So what kind of justification do you have in thinking that the title is old and needs to be put to rest? If you don't have a playstation then perhaps you missed just how good and popular these titles are.

It certainly didn't live up to the franchise's 90+ quality. But it was still a solid game and amazing for a handheld title. Controls and the story pacing definitely made the title suffer.
