No-one said the next uncharted is Uncharted 4 (well, going by the teaser at least). It might be a prequel or a new series or something completely else with the Uncharted name.
Anyway, I've played Crash games released later than PS1...
Those Crash games were not developed by Naughty Dog. Naughty Dog sold the rights to Crash to Activision when the moved on to Jak and Daxter and Crash has been passed around several developers since. Not a single one was as good as the original PS1 games though.

No no no,

If we follow the Naughty Dog tradition, then Uncharted 4 will take things up a whole new level:

This might be my favorite gaming trend of all time. Naughty Dog would earn so many points from me if they released Nathan Drake Kart Racing, even if it was a joke.

Sadly I never played the Crash series but played all the Jak and Uncharted series almost religiously. I'm also a little disappointed that its not opening up with a new series but since I loved Uncharted I'm willing to look the other way.

Though what we really need is a REBOOT to Jak in my opinion, but that could just be me being biased lol.

Actually, they left the rights to Crash when they partnered up with Sony and left Universal Interactive. Universal Interactive became Vivendi Games, and Vivendi Games eventually merged with Activision. Basically it was a holdings company similar to how Index was and it got caught in a huge merger that happened in the early 2000s. So the rights to Crash and Spyro technically were never sold to other companies, they were just moved when the mergers were happening.
