Everyone who hasn't read the words in the OP are idiots.

OT: I'm not entirely bothered by this to be honest... It sounds as though the film is going to give more of a history (EDIT: read context) of why Nate is the way he is... The film makers obviously have to come up with an original storyline rather than the ones the two games throw us, if not simply to keep things fresh then atleast to explore Drake's character a bit more.

What bothers me about the atricle more is the final quote that "Colombia Pictures...wants the film out sooner rather than later." Seriously?? like that will end well.

Admittedly, yes, Mark Walhberg is a terrible choice compared to Nathan Fillion but I'm still hopeful for the film...Despertaley hopeful.

Well...Then it's not really Uncharted, is it?

He's just taking the title and making whatever the fuck he wants. What a douche.

Filmmakers, if basing a film on an existing story, create their own interpretations and representations of that original text/story. Naturally, it's not going to be like the original.

Pray tell, which "family" is Drake supposed to have in this movie?

Don't tell me that they're giving Nathan Drake a parental guilt complex?!

I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Fuck you, Russell. Stick with the original story or get out.

It's going to be bad because Mark Wahlberg is in it.
That really hurts, Julian.
I've told you before I dont' like him.

He's only been good in one film.

Everything else sucked.

I can't forgive him for The Happening though....

For fuck's sake stop talking about Bees!!

Not really...you're just raging on something that ALL film makers do when doing films based on other things. It happens with books, real-life events and even other films. It doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing. When people study a film, book or even videogame, they interpret it in their own way....Again, doesn't make it a bad thing if the message you took from something is completely different to that of the original meaning.

I'm just saying that what he's doing is not strictly a bad thing. It could be that the film turns out to be absolutley awesome without having to stick to the rules of the Uncharted series. I personally think it's a good thing when filmmakers stay away from a videogame's original storyline...

...Except Max Payne. That was terrible.

Oh and it also had Mark Walhberg in it...therefore Uncharted will also be terrible. I retract my previous argument.

interesting to see that they're making 'Firefly' the movie.
The whole Mark Wahlberg thing i dont mind so much even if i find his acting about as good as a cyanide colonic, the one thing that makes me think this will be terrible is the whole "a family thats a force to be reckoned with". It may have worked for the incredibles but i always think that families, when put into these scenarios in cinema, it just makes me root for the bad guy's to put a bullet in their whiny 'togetherness emphasising' craniums.

also i have to agree with the happening, he basically had a reaction very similar to when i realised i left my coffee downstairs

Is it ironic that the one film he was good in okay (to appease Matt, especially good in) was technically about sucking?
Very much so.

It also happens to be the film I'm talking about as well :D

Apparently the director of the Uncharted adaptation wants to focus on Drake's his "extended family"...
Just read the following article
http://movies.ign.com/articles/113/1137651p1.html

I think I speak for most people when I say
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!!!

That's not an angry "What" as much as a loud confused one. Where do you get a vibe of family from Uncharted... it's freakin' Uncharted, not the Incredibles.

I'm... confused, to put it lightly, about the direction the movie's heading.

NOTE: FAMILY DOESN'T MEAN "FAMILY FRIENDLY". FAMILY, IN THIS CASE, IS REFERRING TO HAVING THE THEME OF THE MOVIE BE "FAMILY"
So, it's National Treasure 2, 2?

...Are you talking about Boogie Nights? Man, I still need to see that.

And, hey! he was good in Shooter. And The Departed! And it's looking like he'll get another Oscar Nomination for The Fighter.

*Is trying to hard to defend Wahlberg...*
