Because teenagers are stupid, and some girls honestly believe that leaving school at 16, going on the dole, getting knocked up, having three kids by the time they're 20 (usually with three different dads) and getting a free council house for the forseeable future was just as good a life as staying in school/college/uni, finding someone you love, live with them, maybe getting married, settling down and having kids when you're ready and can afford them comfortably.

I can remember having this argument with some girls in my school at the age of 14 during a careers-type class... couldn't believe when one of them honestly turned round and said that was what she wanted to do with her life. Still can't, to be honest!! Safe to say, I haven't kept in touch with many girls from my school...

Me? I'm 25, have been with my boyfriend for 4 1/2 years, and while I know we could support ourselves and a child, I still crapped myself when I had a bit of a preggy scare this summer... so gods alone know what planet these kiddies having kiddies are on to think it'll all work out fine...

One final thought - "If I was 'Underage & Pregnant' I'd have got a slap and disowned, not a part on a TV Show!!!"

Yeahh, lol. Stupid really, not sure why a young girl would let a guy who has 2 kids already sleep with her. :S

Yeah, glibness doesn't work in a text medium. Sweetie.
On the other hand, quoting people that you're talking too works wonders. Ahem.

Anyway, I don't live in the UK, but from what I hear there's a lot of "chavs" over there. That probably has something to do with it.

Back in the day, that was the age a lot of people had kids. It's only in the last 100 years or so that we've started having them so late, mainly due to difference in equality in education and the workplace for women.

I had sex for the first time at 14, was regularly getting it at 16, and at 17 a girl fell pregnant due to a faulty condom. She aborted (without telling me) and I've continued to have a high sex drive since. It's a natural thing. I'm now in my mid 20's, and have no intention of having a child, like a lot of childless people my own age (at the moment anyway).

Basically, a lot of people have sex at that age, and some of them end up pregnant, but most don't. I think some young mothers feel that having a child validates them as an adult, and they can get a lot from it, including money, and the opportunity to drop out of school.
I agree with both the top and bottom statements. Us humans can have babies at that age because its natural for us to start mating, but modern society tells us otherwise.

And I cant stand it when you har on the news about girls forming pacts to get pregnant for fre ehouses and stuff, especially since they dont really care about the child. It kinda makes me shifty about parties and such, Im 16, and yet to have a girlfriend as it is, which makes me think that at something such as a party I could be targeted as 'desperate' (Im not, im probably one of few boys in my area/school that dont really give a dam about sex atm) and be almost fall into the trap of unprotected sex.

Note: before you ask, I dont think all girls are like that.

Beats me...

I know I don't plan on getting anyone pregnant anytime soon.

My best guess would be the high number of braindead chavs which populate large area's of the UK.
