with all the huge shitty titles clogging up our veiw it is very easy for realy good games to slip past unnoticed so i thought it would be nice to share some of our favriote games levels or even just concepts
the few i have to start with are
1 dark void : pretty bland tps but when you get the jetpack it turnes into a wild ride of crazyness very few games have something so unique its a shame the rest of the game is just so poor

deadliest warrior : arcade games at their best fighting games are always kinda dumb this being no exception especialy when you can shoot someone in the chest and then have your head kicked off because you wernt paying atention for one micro second
but like dark void this games dose something special by taking fighters from various points in history and pitting them against eachother in a no holds barred fight to the death. and even tho it may seeem hard the game quickly becomes harder when you realise that you can be instantly killed by any charecter hitting you in the face with their projectile weapon. fights realy come down to knowing the fighter you are using and knowing how best to fuck up your oponent legs arms and even heads will fly across the screen in a manner that is oh so satisfying to watch.

Doritos games : they are free and usualy an easy way to get 200 gs but one thing a lot of people forget is that games are ment to be about enjoyment. crash course is a total wipeout style game meaning you platform from one side of the course to another dodging balls swinging and smashing hammers and of course 10 second falls into icy water diont get me rong this game may seem simple but its notn easy especialy if you want to get a gold medal on each level this gam will have you bitting your toung to stop from swearing and wincing in agony when you get 10 milliseconds off the gold time.

so tell me escapist members what are your fav underated or not well known games ?

The Darkness is about at "cult classic" popularity, right? If it's not a famous game: The Darkness! The actual gameplay is sort of repetitive, but the powers are cool and the story, characters, and music make up for its flaws.
one thing tunred me off of the darkness and that is that you can mess up the story and have no way to continue the devs must have been huffing extra hard when they decided to not even put in a failsafe or even just block guns during that part og the game

The original Prey: It went without much fanfare and its meta critic was far too low (83) for a game with such creative level design and atmosphere. I still remember the opening of that game vividly, the confusion of first being teleported to the Sphere, the panic of seeing everyone around you face gruesome deaths. Needless to say, I feel as if not nearly as many people have played that game as it deserved.

An old game from 2002 called Soldat: The game developers could be seen as pioneers of today's indie game market, but the game itself is nearly flawless in it mechanics and gameplay. In terms of the adrenaline it creates during competitive multiplayer, it puts most modern shooters to shame. I still hold it today as a huge achievement in sidescrolling 2d design. This might all be nostalgia for the year I spent addicted to that game, though.

I think Nier is fantastic...and I'm only 4 hours in.
Same here. I only just started playing it a few days ago, and I already love Weiss.

*Ahem* er, I mean Grimoire Weiss.

This thread again. Of all the recurring threads this one is probably my favourite. Here's what I posted for the last version of this thread: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.271974-Excellent-Brilliant-and-Amazing-games-no-one-has-ever-heard-of-or-has-a-biased-agaisnt#11355011

I think The Operative: No One Lives Forever (2000) counts as unfairly ignored. It's a cult classic, received excellent reviews (metacritic 91/100), and I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who's played it through and didn't like it. Yet despite all of this, so few people seem to have heard of it. This makes me sad because I personally think it's one of the best first person shooters and also one of the funniest games I've ever played.

Yes, that is a shootout with evil henchmen while freefalling at 20,000 ft.

Fear Effect and its prequel Retro Helix.

Honestly, this game has a great mystic storyline, WONDERFUL PUZZLES, decent shooting mechanics and countless death cinematics. It's also quite adult with the heavy lesbian themes, horror elements etc..

The puzzles truly take the cake. There are just so many and all of them are so diverse. These two games are just awesome and it just sickens me how underrated or heck, unknown they are.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y19xbD9j6W0 check it and get it.

I'm sure it's available on Ebay.

But yeah. Nobody ever talks about this game or references this? NEVER!! IT NEVER HAPPENS AND IT SADDENS ME THAT SUCH GEMS ARE OVERLOOKED AND CAST ASIDE!!!

About a year-or-two-ago, a game called Ao Oni was released. It was a horror, and, unlike many other horror games at the time: It wasn't spewing bullshit out at every corner. However, the game is hugely underated.

Secondly: Okami. PS2 gem; brilliant game; worth every penny; one of the best underated games. EVAR. And it wooks pwetty. It kinda' slipped the radar and accidentaly fell into a bottomless pit.

Or Sweet Home - a 1989 JRPG/survival-horror for the Japanese FAMICON and European/American NES. There's also quite a humorous fact about it: It's the first installment in the Resident Evil series.

Or, definetly check out Winter Voices. This was also another horror game along with Ao Oni that came out around the same time that didn't suck. It's an episodic thriller/art/horror game in which you control a girl in her late-teens trying to cope with her father's death. Just like most horror portagonists, she ends up in the loony bin. Using a point & click-defensive strategic combat sytsem and beautifully written dialouge, this is a game that you cannot miss out on.

Or, Runaway. This shooter puzzle adventure... whatever the fuck it is, is a fun little trip into Good Game Ville.

Gregory Horror Show: The Soul Collector. Based on a Japanese anime where everyone's a box in a haunted hotel managed by an insane mind, Soul Collector'll make you question what's real... and what's not. The puzzles are all unique and all the characters are vibrant, colourful, imaginative souls who'll try to kill you with any chance they get. Definetly worth $20.

Metro 2033. One of the few games to be based off a novel (a Russian one at that) and developed by a Ukrainian company, 4A games. It had fantastic atmosphere and a good use of HUD. Unfortunately it came out at around the same time as Mass Effect 2, so got pushed under the carpet.
