Conker. When is the last time you heard anyone talk about how kick ass he is?
Listen to a hip hop song. Must have a lot of little dicks in that genre :p

Edit: All of the characters in Red Steel, pulled directly out of the Encyclopedia of Racist Stereotypes.

"I'm gonna git you suckah."

"Pr-prease don't kirr me!"

This may seem a bit obvious as he's currently serving as my avatar, but to pick one, I'd go with Geno. He and Mallow would have been awesome additions to the Mario franchise if given the opportunity.

Other runner-ups include Seda from Dark Cloud, E102 gamma from the original Sonic Adventure, Charlie from the Street Fighter Alpha Series, Marina Lightyears from Mischief Makers (heck that whole game was underrated in my opinion) and Mission from Knights of the Old Republic

I'm sure there are others, I couldn't think of but I'd say that a pretty good list for now.

Robot from Chrono Trigger. He was awesome!
Robo, but yeah! Him and Frog~ Both of them were my favorites X3
MAGUS! MAGUS! MAGUS! *CHEER*

He is awesome, every line of text he speaks is pure liquid malevolence, and if you play as him he doesn't run, he glides.

Hunt for Red October Jack Ryan? Or did you mean the love interest from Sixteen Candles?

Navi and Slippy.
Yes, I said that.
NAVI AND SLIPPY.

Navi was one of the only partners (aside from Midna) aho actually gave you useful advice without explicitly telling you what to do *stares at King of Red Lions*

As for Slippy, without him, you wouldn't be able to see the boss' shields. IMO, that's important.
I agree about Navi, but Slippy needs to die a horrible, horrible death. God that voice was absolutely horrible! I also thought Falco was an asshole.

Also Travis Touchdown is absolutely one of the best and most original new characters of this generation, yet not many people no who he is which is too bad.
Shinobu and Bad Girl were pretty sweet. I loved the ending to the Bad Girl fight. January 2010! Shinobu and Henry playability!

My pick is Meta Knight from the Kirby franchise.
Funny, I like him.

Hmmm... How about Vergil, from Devil May Cry 3? He has some class, but is only accessable in the Special Edition of the game.
I know I definitely prefer Vergil over Dante.

I think people give Dom a hard time. They call him a crybaby, but really? I mean, he's been in the middle of a war for years and hasn't seen his wife since he left. His only memory is a picture of her that he keeps folded away. Cliche, yes, but still you have to consider his situation. He has to keep on that "badass" mask to cover for his obvious emotional struggle with not being able to see his wife at any time. Then he hears news that she's still alive and that he can find her. He gets hope that he will find her and after he struggles and struggles, he finds her tortured to the point of permanent disfugerment and pain. He has to take her out of her misery himself. Think about that for a second. He has to kill the woman he loves and has been searching for. It's a pretty sad story, and he gets a bad rap for actually being upset over something so horrible. I mean, all the characters are a bit cheesy and lame testosterone filled big guy characters that are nearly impossible to be taken seriously so when they actually try to give one character a motive and sort of an emotional connection to the player, people go back and make fun of him.

In short, walk a mile in Dom's bloodstained shoes.

Toad. He does everything! EVERYTHING!!
And he gets all the bitches.
You should write to robot chicken to do this. They've already used him and his kart to rob a bank.
its from a video of a guy playing Mario game as toad for all but one level.
and on-topic:
I'm going to roll with that shotgun guy in ODST.
the shotty with the working flashlight guy.

Rtas Vadum from the Halo series, also known as Half Jaw. The elite commander in white armor who has only half his manibles due to some kind of accident. He was awesome and while it is true he was brought back in Halo 3 as a bit of fan service still I feel he could have gotten a little more attention.
His voice was so cool.
Yeah him. And Baird; that guy is the perfect foil to the leaden and grim Marcus.

i don't have that many games buy i would pick tails for as the great Yahtzee said "he ran the same speed as sonic in sonic 2 and tails could fucking fly" also in sonicX (yes im a nerd) he was an electronic wiz which i liked also even though i'm a big bro luigi is another of my favourite underated he's in better shape than mario and could jump higher in super mario 2 (doki doki no panic) also he was a ghost buster in his own game which is cool.

You make a good point about sentimentality being cause for derision. My problem with that whole subplot was that it was resolved in the same way as everything else in Gears of War: Shooting people. There were so many other ways the writers could have made that go....

Anyway, I nominate Wander for most underrated videogame hero. He's not big and muscled, and he is also driven by sentimentality, but anyone who can kick that much ass with nothing but a bow, a sword and a horse is worthy of recognition.
