Robot from Chrono Trigger. He was awesome!
Robo, but yeah! Him and Frog~ Both of them were my favorites X3
MAGUS! MAGUS! MAGUS! *CHEER*

He is awesome, every line of text he speaks is pure liquid malevolence, and if you play as him he doesn't run, he glides.
Ayla strong! Hulk Ayla smash!

But yeah, the characters from Chrono Trigger were awesome (with the possible exceptions of Crono and Marle). I also include in this list: Luigi, Navi, Quote, and Edward from FFIV (and apparently, I'm like the only person who likes him...).

I'm not sure if they're underrated, but delta squad from Republic Commando. Sev, especially, was a badass, and the game itself was awesome. Took the usual Star Wars genre and added a bit of kickass to it. Wish they'd make a sequel...

The most underrated character for me is... Daveth. He was pretty cool, too bad he didn't last long.

Raziel from the Legacy of Kain Francise.

He's a badass, a soul eater, and speaks like he read the world's most complex theasuarus, if I spelled that word correctly.
Amen. All of the Kain games had really complex dialogue. I can still quote the first fight scene between Raziel and Kain. My friend and I can do a back and forth. ...If you're going to be pathetic, might as well do it with a friend...

I also think Simon Belmont is underated. Seems all people think of with Castlevania these days is Alucard. Great character, but Simon started it all, and he's the ONLY one who could master whipping in all eight directions!

I think Bioshock 2 should have something to do with Jack Ryan. I know hes on the surface by then, but still :p
Hunt for Red October Jack Ryan? Or did you mean the love interest from Sixteen Candles?
I mean as in the guy you play as in Bioshock 1.
Wait I was Andrew Ryans brother? Or is that a coincidence.
You are Andrew Ryans son
So wait, why did Andrew Ryan think we were CIA? How did Fontaine kidnap Andrew Ryans son? Why would that asian guy help Fontaine. The plot just fell apart for me.
Me to the rescue.

Andrew Ryan had a child with Jasmine Jolene (The stripper) and when she discovered that she was pregnant she sold the child to Fontaine so Ryan wouldn't be angry at her. Fontaine ordered his employee, Dr. Suchong, to genetically engineer the child to be receptive to certain audio cues, "Would you kindly?" being a command phrase that, when said to Jack, made him comply with whatever order he was given. That qudio diary where the little boy is told by Suchong to kill a puppy? That's Jack.

Fontaine sent him to the surface (So he would not be killed or captured during his uprising) as his "Ace in the hole" as he put it, a fail-safe to use against Ryan should his rebellion fail, which it did. Fontaine was "Killed" and "Atlas" became the new rebel leader, sending the city into full-on anarchy with a new spliced-up army at his command, but he still couldn't defeat Ryan. Fontaine then sent a letter to Jack telling him to get on a plane and crash it at very specific coordinates (The location of Rapture).

Cleared up now?
Ah see, I was halfway there in the plot, but I thought Jack was just some street orphan and I never realised there was an uprising (what with all the splicers seeming to obey Ryan).
He uses air-borne pheromones to control the actions of the splicers, the audio tape for that was pretty hard to find so I don't blame you if you didn't find it.

I agree with you there, maybe a couple of the diaries lying around could be his. I just don't see how we could be continually scared when we're a big-fricken daddy

also, I'll say it once and I'll say it again. Steinman was one the most interesting bosses in Bioshock in my book. they should've had more like him, that stressed the definition of sanity.

that and James Sunderland. unlike most characters in survival horror he's not 1) a baddass whose surrounded by zombies or 2) jut a blank slate to have scary shit happen to

Every character from Republic Commando (still what I consider most underated game). Except maybe Fixer. Fixer was a tool. But Scorch, Sev, and 38 were good (my fav is still Scorch).
Oh, and also, hey everyone on the forums.

Merc from Mirror's Edge, and Dr. Breen until he became popular on Stolen Pixels.
Oh, and that guy you can prevent from killing himself if you have a high enough Charm skill in Mass Effect and took the Sole Survivor background.
Nihlus as well. I started out the game hoping that you would do a bunch of missions with him as an epic Spectre tag team or something, and then he goes and gets betrayed in the first five minutes of gameplay. Depressing.

I have to say that Data from Megaman Legends was underated. He was a little robotic monkey that would constantly do a little dance that is very contagious.
