I liked Shadows of the empire a lot :) Good mix between action adventure, rail shooter and flying levels. As far as I can remember it even offered you to switch between first and 3rd person view and the Hoth Level was epic :)

Extreme G was a little bit like Wipeout-but with bikes and TUROK wasnt bad either.

*Donkey Kong 64
*Mario Tennis (64) - its surprisingly fun
*Paper Mario
*Mario Kart 64
*Perfect Dark
*Goldeneye
*Bomberman 64
*Resident Evil 2 (its better to play PS1)
*Pokemon Snap

I crave n64 games but I don't want the usual suspects (ocarina of time, goldeneye, re2, etc). What are some other, quality, lesser known games (like gex <3) that I could play.
Blast Corps. Undoubtedly one of the most fun games I've ever played. Who doesn't like demolishing large buildings using a massive robot in order to help clear land for a new building?

For even suggesting it you are shamed, we do not speak of that travesty.

Maybe we should attempt the button hitting challenge in Neon Genesis Evangelion . Or maybe we should play Earthworm Jim 3D, the most disappointing sequel I've ever played.
...
I did suggest NGE. Mostly because its ending doesn't attempt to rape your sanity...
Not as much as the movie at least...

Rare made the best N64 games, so here is a list of most(?) of Rare's N64 games.

# Banjo-Kazooie
# Banjo-Tooie
# Conkers Bad Fur Day
# Diddy Kong Racing
# Jet Force Gemini
# Golden Eye
# Perfect Dark
# Donkey Kong 64
This is pretty much my exact list of favourite N64 games, cept didy kong racing, really didn't like that. and i cant say to much about golden eye or conkers bad fur day as i never got to play them properly, but what i have played i loved.

You sorta need to know Japanese for NGE though.
And?
I have a Japanese friend so ... yeah.

nightfire? isn't that a gamecube game and to be fair it wasn't half as good as golden eye? the good FPS wizards from rare already left by then and formed free radical.

I know to each his own but might I recommend another game series that the guys that left rare gave us as a reaction to I think nightfire.

The time splitter series.

I mean as I look back rare games have always been an underdog compared to the nintendo ones. they did work toghether but well lets see.

Nintendo - Rare
Mario kart - Diddy kong racing
mario 64 - Banjo kazooie
golden eye - Perfect dark

and there might be more that I can't remember. but as far as I see it rare always tried to one up the nintendo corp stuff. and in every occasion except golden eye they got it just right.

I dunno, it just seems kinda inane to recommend a game that can only be played in one language.
I also fully recommend playing Mother 3 if you can "get your hands on it."
(Not 64 I know, but...it almost was)

I don't remember what it is called. But you played as a dog with a cannon on it's back and killed giant, humanoid ants.
