Are there any bands or artists that you listen to that you think deserve more recognition than they are. For me, Alter Bridge immediately comes to mind. Fantastic band with fantastic music and lyrics, but I think they could be a hell of a lot bigger than they are now. Oh, and if you have links or videos of your chosen artists, I strongly encourage you to post them cause I might like to hear them and I'm sure others would as well. Have at it!

Closure in Moscow immediately comes to mind.

A lot of people criticize them for sounding too similar to The Mars Volta, and I see a couple issues with that. 1) How is that a bad thing? 2) The Mars Volta was never this enjoyable, at least to me.

Take a listen. Some of the best progressive rock I've ever listened too. They're brilliant, and one of the best sounding bands I've ever seen live.

Yeah, I can see why people think they sound like Mars Volta, but I like this band better, honestly. Nice one dude! :)

Morphine. I swear unless you actually listened to them in the '90's or have a very eclectic taste in music nobody ever talks about them. It's a damn shame too because jazzy alternative rock is just so much better than what's popular today.

Holy ninjas of Islam. This, I guess. The only song of theirs I don't like is Permafrost.

Tom Petty. Dude can write a pop song like no one else.

But he's the kind of artist that people are generally just...aware of. Then they hear "Breakdown" or "You Don't Know How It Feels" and they love it. And he has a ton of great songs like that.

The most fun concert I went to was a Tom Petty cover band (comprised of various members of many of the better local bands) out on the beach in Charleston. Granted, I was extremely drunk...but at least I'm the kind of guy who remembers everything after being drunk (actually, that's usually more of a curse than a blessing)

Might be better if they had a better vocalist. I really couldn't stand that guy's singing at all. Other than that I thought it was alright.

After the Burial is vastly underrated in my opinion:

It's a live video yes, but it's awesome!

How about Unkle?

They did one of the songs for the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood trailer.

And then they did one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard with Tommy from Radiohead.

A Traitor Among Us, went to some of their gigs, and I actually think they are pretty good. They may be a young band (they started playing not so long ago) they sound pretty awesome live

Cobra Skulls. They play a sort of punkabilly, pop-punk mix of music, it's all really unique. The fact that it's a three-piece is even more impressive. Their album American Rubicon is easily one of the best albums I've ever listened to.

One of my fave Aussie bands...so stoked to see them in August.
I've got their Aussie as Fuck shirt. I was I truly was Aussie as fuck sometimes... Until I remember how big their fucking spiders get!

Have you seen them live before? They're phenomenal. The lead singer Chris is just a blast to watch.

Absolutely unquestionably Shihad. If these guys were American they'd be huge but since they're from New Zealand they're mostly restricted to NZ and Australia. They have been together for 22 years now and have released eight full length albums plus a live album and a massive number of EPs. They are absolutely awesome live - I've seen them live three times myself - and their style ranges from industrial and thrash metal to radio-friendly pop rock.

In the early 2000s they had a brief chance to really break into the American market. This coincided with 9/11 and as Shihad sounded too much like jihad they were forced to change their name to Pacifier. They released one over-produced over-tampered-with album, were unhappy with it, said 'fuck it', changed their name back and apologised to the fans who had been disappointed by all this by holding a kick-ass free gig in the middle of Auckland City. This is a band that love what they do.

As in every thread simular to this one I will post about Overkill.
They were one of the very first thrash metal bands but didn't get as much attention as the other bands that popped up during the time. It's a shame, because imo they are the best thrash band out there and after over 30 years they still play awesome thrash.
They deserved to be one of the big four more than any of the ones who got the title.

Song from their latest album, to show you how damn cool you can still be after 31 years of thrashing!
