On my fruitless quest of trying to understand people, I want to know what motivats you my dear escapist users? If you so desire you can post your life story if you want and what lead you up to now.

What motivates me to...what? Post here? Live life?

Posting here...I enjoy speaking with most users. I like the fact that sometimes, people will take a look at what I have to say and actually respond. Theres some more to it than that.

As for life...just gotta keep on truckin'.

To try to have the happiest and longest life possible.
Pretty much yeah. My goal here is enjoyment - i like a scenic view, a good story, a nice friend to talk with. I not only enjoy others' art, i also create it myself.

My current motivation is to leech off my parents for as long as possible. I learned that I can't stand being employed, & that if I try to work from the house, nothing ever gets done.

Well nothing really, I could just say f*** all this s*** and go sit on the moon but if I had to say one thing it'd be trying to find someone that doesn't pass judgement on me in the first five minutes of meeting me.

Science! If I could wave my hands and live the life I really want, I would become a scientist. To create knowledge that never existed before is an utterly compelling thing to me.

The below sort of sums it up for me. It's from this interview of a sociologist of science, Harry Collins [http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=scientists-know-better-than-you]:

Question from Scientific American: You've spent the past 30 years studying gravitational wave physicists. What do you like about them?

Answer from Harry Collins: They're my ideal kind of academic. They're doing a slightly crazy, almost impossible project, and they're doing it for purely academic reasons with no economic payoff. I consider myself an academic who's made the bargain that I want to have an interesting life, and I'm prepared to have a little less status and a little less money as a result.

The drive to be understood as an individual, as more than a cog in a machine.
What makes you an Individual? I'm not trying to say that in a rude manner but really want to know.

Currently my only motivation to school is coffee and on my way to school I'm buying another pack of cigarettes....

How do you want people to see as opposed to how they see you now.
