Personally, my biggest gripe with the Homeworld Remaster is that they introduced a lot of problems from HW2 into HW1.
- Tactics and formations just plain don't work. Fights that used to be over in seconds with minimal damage now last minutes with your ships taking a pounding because they're zooming around prettily rather than fighting. Where is my corvette wall, damnit?! Don't even get me started on the asteroid level...
- No more fuel limits on fighters (might seem an improvement, but repairing becomes a micromanagement chore because of it). And evasive maneuvers has disappeared.
- Repair ships and salvage corvettes don't do their jobs properly. Sitting around or bugging out.
- Autoscaling of difficulty has actually become even worse. Seriously, 8 frigates in mission 3?! Also: where did all my MBFs go?
It looks great and it sounds amazing. Opening the sensor manager and hearing the background noise again gave me goosebumps. But it's more than a little broken for me. Things like usable formations are not 'optional'. They need to work.
