Infamous: when I saw the first trailer and saw evrything was grey, the protagonist had a voice like a blender full of gravel and there was a karma system I thought I was gonna pass on it.
But now I bought it a few days ago and i am enjoying the hell out of it.

Operation Darkness. A WWII-era tactical RPG featuring ..werewolves and Jack the Ripper..vs. Hitler's zombies and vampires?! The graphics are barely passable and it has the WORST camera known to gaming, but gameplay is solid and absorbing.
AssaultCube looked crappy when I first got it, but as it downloaded I remembered it used the Cube engine.
Sauerbraten was the most expectably good game I've ever played....
RECOIL didn't look too great either. I thought, "It's a 1999 tank game, how good can it be?"
How wrong I was....
