Simon Strange (the main dude behind a lot of the good Godzilla 3D fighting games) is doing Colossal Kaiju Combat as a series if you wanna look into that. So while yeah, they aren't making Godzilla games, thankfully the 3D Kaiju Fighter genre seems to be making a comeback...also the Pacific Rim game for the PS3/360 but...eh...moving on.

My answer for this...Spyro. Like actual Spyro.

For the record, I don't mind Skylanders. I actually like some of the Skylanders. Hell, I own a Skylanders figurine despite not owning any of the games (Thumpback. Hail to the whale!)

But Spyro is literally just a B character in this series now. They took his name off the title (which I think is good and a smart move) he's not even the mascot anymore for the series. Usually that goes to Trigger Happy.

So he's just stuck in this series where he's no longer the star, he's just another face in the crowd of toys.

And I think that's really sad given Spyro's history of pretty good games overall.

So Activision or whoever has him right now...let him free. Either make a new Spyro game with the Spyro you have, or sell Spyro to someone who would do something right with him. Either way, let Spyro out of Skylanders. Losing him won't hurt that series all that much at this point.

I've always wished they had made a 3rd 'No One Lives Forever' game. The 2nd game left a few loose ends that I wanted to see wrapped up. Plus the games had a great blend of action, stealth, and comedy. Yes, comedy. Mostly listening to NPC conversations before kicking in the door to kill them but also the hilarious intelligence you could find.
AGREED! Unfortunately last time I heard anything about it none of the companies involved actually knew who owned the rights to the property anymore. Which is just like how does that even happen man.

I really want a sequel or at least a spiritual successor to Konami's PSX game, Azure Dreams. It has random dungeon generator (Rougelike), collectable monsters that you can train and collect, and finally the dating sim part of the game.
That game was a great mash up of all of my favorites things in a game.

I would also love a successor to Atlus's Brigandine Legend of Forsena.

Those two are among my favorite games for the PSX.

Too bad that the main team that created the main titles have disbanded. So, it's unlikely that we'll get a continuation .

Oh also I would love it if they made another Monster Rancher game...and by another Monster Rancher game I mean another GOOD Monster Rancher game...and by another GOOD Monster Rancher game I mean...look at Monster Rancher 2, and do that but do it bigger with more stuff in it.

God, Monster Rancher 2 was an amazing game.

More than any other series, I want a Klonoa 3. The spinoffs are fine and all, but I want another main-continuity game, especially with all the foreshadowing near the end of 2. Some of the finest puzzle-platformers ever made, with specific gameplay mechanics that I've never seen anywhere else, and intentionally-invoked dissonance between cute characters and a melancholy tone (in the vein of Final Fantasy IX) to make the darker bits stand out.
They've all been beloved by those of us who've played them--I still replay both 1 and 2 every once in a while--but they never sell well. We even got a Wii remake of the first game with promise of the series being revived if it sold well, and then no one bought it. It's not fair...

I wish that the Metal Arms team didn't get bought up to work on the totally-not-cancelled starcraft: ghost. It was shaping up to be an excellent trilogy. Well, at least the first game is still awesome.

It's also unfortunate that Age of Empires seems to have died off. Age of Empires Online would have been an excellent AOE game if it wasn't an MMO. AOE 2 doesn't really hold up since the factions have so many things just copy-pasted between factions.

The "Mana" series.
Though given the overwhelming tepidness of Squeenix games since the merger, I'm not sure if I'd want a new Mana title.
They kinda ran that series into the mud, head first.

(though if there was anyone who could design a modern remake/update for Secret of Mana, I actually think I could do the job. Well, barring my inexperience at managing large groups)

Star Wars.

Maybe it's too obvious, but I'm still surprised nobody else mentioned it.

Ever since Jim Ward got control of Lucasarts, the only good, memorable Star Wars games to be released were the ones already in development before he became the president of the company. Then he restructured everything, completely dropped the third-party titles like Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Knight, Republic Commando, Battlefront, Racer, Rogue Squadron, Bounty Hunter, and pumped out wasted potential like The Force Unleashed or pure crap like Star Wars Kinect and Clone Wars - Republic Heroes. The only saving grace was the LEGO Star Wars series.

The Wild Arms series. I sorely miss the puzzle RPG gameplay mixed with Japan's idea of what the wild west looked like.

Speaking of puzzle RPG gameplay, Golden Sun. I thought maybe I'd be used to it by now given the giant time gap between the GBA games and Dark Dawn, but the pain never goes away.

Nobody's said Banjo-Kazooie? Jet Force Gemini? Perfect Dark? Conker's Bad Fur Day? Any Rare title made before Microsoft bought them out?

Well, I'll be the first to say that then. Probably not the last either.

Dark cloud and its successor dark chronicle, more of that and I would be happy. Also on a slightly related note where the hell is my Gotcha Force 2

Silent Hill as well. Downpour received more or less positive reviews and it's relatively recent, but after the Book of Memories fiasco I can't help but think the franchise is dead as a doornail.
I can't help but wonder what the original Team Silent is doing now. Akira Yamaoka still provides music to the newer Silent Hill games I think, but what about the rest of the guys? Did they just get shallowed up other Konami projects?

Suikoden. The world really needs more Suikoden, it's been 8 damn years.

The series have been mostly excellent, gaining praise from both critics and players. However, they haven't sold well at all, mostly because Konami could never be asked to properly market the damn things, and it seems now that they've just killed it off instead of trying any more.

Which is a shame, because again, the games are excellent. They're deep and complex, full of interesting characters and a fascinating internal mythology.

Yes, I'd love some more Suikoden. As long as there's nothing like the goddamn boat in Suikoden 4. Hooooly shit, travelling by boat was a pain in the ass. Takes forever to go anywhere, as the boat goes at a snail's pace with random encounters every 5 seconds. Imagine Assassin's Creed: Black Flag with the Jackdaw being about as fast as how fast you can swim. At least you have Viki, but you can't teleport to some islands when there's plot about to happen there, so you're forced to go by boat.

Next time I'm replaying the Suikoden series, I think I'll actually just skip Suikoden 4.
There is a movement for that. We are already on it, and you all are more than welcome to join in if you want.

Interesting you mentioned that, I'd totally forgotten that we hadn't seen a single Star Wars game in a while. Aside from the obvious pick of Battlefront (they gave us that teaser for III but it's bullshit), anyone remember that Star Wars 2323 (or what was it) that was supposed to be a "gritty, mature" Star Wars game about bounty hunters in Coruscant? I wonder where that went.

System Shock 2 ended on a cliffhanger that's been unresolved for 15 years. The Dawn of War series seems to have died with THQ. I still wish they'd made a Warhammer Fantasy game with the Dawn of War template. Or better yet, imagine them taking a page from Total War's book: leading a thousand orcs screaming to battle.

Can't think of others off the top of my head.

As has been said before in here: the Star Wars flight sims and Oddworld. I would like to add Megaman Legends to the list, but considering what we saw of the third one while it was in development I'm thinking we might have dodged a bullet.

How has no one mentioned Bushido Blade yet? I feel like that series could have a lot to offer on a more modern platform.

Also, I actually count Half-Life as dead. It's been seven years since HL2:E2 came out and Valve's main interests seem to have shifted over to hats and flooding steam with terrible games. I really would have liked to play HL2:E3, but I suspect the next game will be a full-fledged sequel called Half-Life 3. My guess is they are going to use it as the killer app when the steamboxes finally see release, but I'm not sure I care anymore. Kingdom Hearts lost me when they sputtered out making spin-offs for a decade and valve has been pushing me that way on one of my all time favorites series.

EDIT: Although it's not a game, I want to include Reboot. Stupid cliffhanger ending.

Well, unless the original writer is on board (who left halfway through Suikoden 3's production, IIRC) I don't know if a revived series would be as good.

It takes a keen familiarity with Chinese and Japanese folklore to re-create the elements that made Suikoden so appealing, and more than just "budget JRPG from Konami".

You know I bring this up every time I see a thread like this, but did it occur to anyone that sometimes it might be a blessing that a series ends before it gets run through the ringer of today's corporate run bullshit industry? I mean does anyone really want to see their beloved series get the same treatment as Dungeon Keeper Mobile?
